Laws and Doctrines.
I'm going to list a couple to start with. Then we can guess weather they are Man Made or God Made.
1.) Thou Shall Not Grow a Beard
2.) Thou Shall Not Watch T.V.
3.) Thou Shall Not make bare the Elbow or Forearm
4.) Thou Shall Not Drink
5.) Thou Shall Not have access to the internet
6.) Thou Shall Not let thy brother go without judgement
7.) Thou Shall be dressed in fine attire in the House of GOD
8.) Thou Shall Love thy Neighbor as thy Love thyself
9.) Thou Shall seek first the Kingdom of GOD
10.) Thou Shall ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and ye shall receive. This is just an opening post to be discussed, on weather these might be “Truth” or “Tradition”

July 3, 2012 at 12:56 am#304852SamuelParticipantYes it is a quiz.
I just wanted to see what others thought.
When you put it like that, it's real easy to see what is and what is not GOD Made.
I too believe the first 7 are Man Made, and the last 3 are GOD Made.

July 3, 2012 at 4:05 am#304878SamuelParticipantI feel that men take things often times, with what I can only hope is “Good Intentions”, and add upon it.
Such as is with the drinking of alcohol. No where in the Bible does it say that you “Can't” drink alcohol or strong drink at all. It does state, and warn against being a Drunkard, or Given to too much wine. What this actually means is “Don't Over Due it”. So, in order to I guess protect themselves from having too much drink, they just don't drink at all. They took it a step further.
The same can be said, or applied with eating. People over eat all the time. But, you don't see people going around not eating, in order to not over eat.
Men have a tendency to make things into more complicated situations. This is just one example of many things that Religions have done to enslave people into conforming to beliefs and doctrines that are not taught in the Bible.
Which makes them teachers of “False Doctrine”.

July 3, 2012 at 1:37 pm#304890GeneBalthropParticipantSamuel……..God told the Isrealites that they could Drink “STRONG DRINK” and eat whatsoever their Souls lusted for at the feast of Tabernacles. Due 14:26 Strong Drink is like Whiskey, Vodka, hard liquor, While wine and Beer is not considered a strong drink . You are right Samuel, it is the excess that is the issue. If a person has a Problem with alcohol obviously he or she should be very careful not to abuse it or perhaps not even touch it at all. But the concept that Alcohol is prohibited by GOD is indeed a false Doctrine.

But this is a good example of men teaching the doctrines of men as if they were the word of God.
Another one is priests who aren't allowed by man's traditions to marry. Where is that rule in the Bible?

Well, in an attempt to answer the question of where they might be deriving this law from. In the New Testament 1 Corinthians 7, there is probably more on the matter in the old testament, or other parts of the Bible as well. Perhaps the THE VOW OF THE NAZIRITE PRIESTHOOD?Not sure, but a lot of things are, taken and added upon.
Their defense is “You have to draw the line somewhere”. But, at what cost do we draw these lines?

July 6, 2012 at 10:05 pm#305132mikeboll64BlockedHi Gene,
I live right by a lot of Indian casinos, but I steer clear of them. I won't take a chance at gambling because I already know I've got an addictive personality. With God's help, I've gotten rid of most of my addictions, and the last thing I need is another one.
But I agree that casinos can be big fun when taken in moderation by those who have more self control than I do.July 6, 2012 at 10:31 pm#305136terrariccaParticipantQuote (Gene Balthrop @ July 07 2012,09:28) Quote (mikeboll64 @ July 05 2012,05:50) I agree, Samuel and Gene. genewe have to look out the real reasons of our actions ,even the ones we may think we do not have ,but the spirit of truth will tell us that some places are better not been shared with Christ in our temple,(body, eyes ans ears, and mind)
our glory his in Christ and not in the way WE CAN WALK THE THIN GREY LINE IN THE WORLD
