logic means thinking ,reasoning ,understanding ,;
but ALL LOGIC ARE NOT GODLY ;LIKE SOME ONE MAY USE IT TO SOLVE HIS CONSTRUCTION PROBLEM,ANOTHER HIS FISHING PROBLEM OF HIS MECHANICAL PROBLEM ;BECAUSE FOR SOLVING PROBLEM YOU ALWAYS NEED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING TO FIND THE LOGIC WITHIN THE DISCIPLINE IN WHICH YOU HAVE A PROBLEM TO SOLVE,
SO IT BECOME EVIDENT THAT THE LOGIC USED TO UNDERSTAND GOD'S WORD SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WORDS AND TEACHINGS ,IF NOT HE WOULD NEVER COME TO THE LOGICAL UNDERSTANDING OF IT ,
LITTLE KNOWLEDGE WILL BRING WRONG LOGIC AND SO FALSE UNDERSTANDING ,
JUST AS AN ENGINEER CALCULATE A BUILDING NEEDS FOR STANDING UP AND RESISTING WIND ,AND SNOW LOADS ,IF HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE FORCES IMPLICATED IN NATURE ;HIS BUILDING WILL NOT STAND AND SO WILL FALL ,

T,The slaves understanding has the appearance of logic but it is not logical. It is also based on the flesh.

Kthe slave thinks as what he wants and understand as he see fit for him ,and then take decisions base on that ,because to him it make sense and seems logical ,
THIS PRACTICE IS DONE DAILY BY ALL MEN ,THE MEN THAT FALLOW CHRIST IS THE ONE THAT AS EMPTY HIS SOUL OF THE THINGS OF THE WORLD AND THE FLESH ,
SO THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD UNDERSTANDING CAN REACH HIM DEEP DOWN INSIDE HIM SO THAT IT IS NO LONGER HIM THAT THINKS OR SPEAKS BUT THE SPIRIT THAT IS IN HIM ,THIS WOULD BE THE LOGICAL TRUTH OF GOD SPIRIT ACCORDING TO GOD ,NOT MEN

This is a passage I find hard to understand because it appears that verse 16 and 17 are part of Jesus' answer to his disciples question from verse 14. My hypothesis is that Jesus is saying the new covenant is designed for the Spirit and the old covenant is designed for human effort.

Nick,I have no idea what the thoughts behind your words are. I do know we are instructed to have the same mind as Christ, who existing in the image of God, did not see equality with God as something to be grasped but emptied himself and took on the image of a servant. Jesus instructs us to follow him.
