Certain ways of thinking produce bad fruit. Radical Leftism for example allowed Theranos, Silicon Valley’s first self-made female billionaire, to deceive investors and rob them of billions of dollars. How? Because she fit the Leftist narrative for gender politics. She was even touted by Hillary Clinton and the Leftist mainstream media as the next Steve Jobs. From this hype, people clamoured to invest in this deception.
When a narrative becomes more important than truth, then deception is the end result. Case in hand. Elizabeth Holmes promised the world a medical revolution. At 19, she claimed to have invented a miniaturised machine that with a single drop of blood could map a person’s health quickly, reliably and cheaply. She boasted that her technology meant serious diseases like cancer would be prevented before they happened. And it was not only a “wow” moment for patients. High-profile investors rushed to pour a fortune into Holmes’ company, Theranos, and she became Silicon Valley’s first self-made female billionaire. But her invention simply didn’t work. It was fraud on a massive scale.
