Did dinosaurs and man live at the same time?
August 20, 2014 at 11:23 am#728227kerwinParticipantT8,
I cannot even say for sure that dinosaurs ever lived since either Satan or God can make it appear that a creature lived when it never did. The Cardiff giant is a similar hoax except it was extremely poor quality. Either God or Satan has the power to make a mock up a living creature.
August 21, 2014 at 4:01 pm#735952ProclaimerParticipantGod has been doing many things before we (man) turned up. There have been ages and epochs before us. Even the Earth has had many a transformation. Remember, in Genesis, man was the last to turn up.
to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

I would not be that certain about it because Science and the bible seem to differ on some points. One point is how the earth came to be. Scientist believe that the earth was formed over time from smaller elements that came together and then became heated enough that the earth was a ball of lava. From there is cooled down and in time came to be water covered.
When the earth is mentioned first in Scripture it is already a water covered ball. That is to say an aged earth.
The methods scientists used are not equipped to deal with an earth that started out aged. The assume it was lava. If that assumption is wrong then a lot of there argument falls apart. It is not the only assumption they make. Only those that were living at that time can truly tell us what happened. The rest are speculation though there speculations may be based on evidence to one degree or another.
August 22, 2014 at 1:36 pm#736518ProclaimerParticipantThe scriptures clearly say, God created the Heavens and the Earth. It then says that the Earth was formless and void.
It doesn’t explain the interim period of God creating the Earth and the formless and void state.
We can imagine all kinds of possibilities with this terse amount of information, so explaining it is only speculation at best.
There could have been billions of years of epochs between a created world and one that was formless and void. There might be one second between the two. It is all conjecture. So saying it was a matter of days to a scientist opens the door to unnecessary ridicule since neither can absolutely prove their belief.
I tend to think the evidence points to an older Earth than many creationists believe.
If we run through genealogies, then man could be 6000 years old. But man was last to arrive on the scene according to scripture. But making the Earth 6000 years old is not supported by scripture.

I do not care if scientists ridicule me or not as they are dealing with soft science and therefore anything they come up with is open to interpretation. It is most likely wrong as they do not have enough data. Historians argue about things that happened in World War II and there are still a few around at that time. There is even less evidence of how the earth began.
As far as I know there is nothing to support the hypothesis that man and dinosaurs lived at the same time. There is possibly evidence in Scripture if you take that the giants that lived before the flood as being dinosaur and the interpretation of the people of Moses’ day was wrong. It is just that certain people want it to be true. The claim itself has lost its creditability though I would possibly check it out if it was in the regular news.
The bottom line is I realize appearances can be deceptive and all scientists have to go on is appearances.

As for the age of the earth the best you can do is go by genealogy and that starts at the creation of Adam. The time before we do not know as God is the witness and who knows what he calls a night and a day. There is clearly a dependency between Scripture and science about the date when death entered the world. The 6000 year date does concur with the rise of cities in the lower Mesopotamian Valley. The only way to reconcile the two is to take much of Genesis as allegorical and not literal.
