t8,
Do you believe the soul of the Christ came to inhabit the body of Jesus?
November 19, 2015 at 2:08 pm#804998ProclaimerParticipantA related question is why do those who believe that Jesus is preexitent not believe that humans such as Jeremiah are not?
Speculatively speaking most believe that he is before all things and that creation was made through him because he is the Word of God that was with God in the beginning. Thus we were made by God through the Word. Thus the head of Christ is God, the head of the man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man.
Thus, the woman came from the man, the man from Christ who is the Word, and Christ from God.
November 19, 2015 at 2:12 pm#804999ProclaimerParticipantDo you believe the soul of the Christ came to inhabit the body of Jesus?
Interesting question. It seems to suggest that Jesus has a soul and so does Christ. Thus either two souls or one soul overcoming the other.
What I believe is Jesus Christ is the Word of God that was with God. Not the logos that is within God. Thus he existed in the form of God, came in the flesh, died for us, rose from the dead, and is seated at the right-hand of God in the glory he had with him before the cosmos.
I do not have small details, but I have the statement above which I draw from scripture.

The error is can be revealed in the small details.
November 19, 2015 at 2:44 pm#805004NickHassanParticipantHi t8,
“Jesus has a soul and so does Christ “?
If you mean the Spirit of Christ why would you suggest the Spirit has a soul?
November 19, 2015 at 2:50 pm#805008kerwinParticipantt8,
This Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy entry is some interesting reading on what Philo of Alexander, a contemporary of John’s, said about the logos.November 19, 2015 at 3:33 pm#805018NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Why would you offer the words of a man whose words reflect vain philosophy and not truth?
November 19, 2015 at 8:34 pm#805026NickHassanParticipantHi t8,
The Spirit of God does not have a soul.
November 20, 2015 at 3:15 am#805028GeneBalthropParticipantT8……You say you are using spectivelative ideas, therein lies your problem. You speculate that JESUS HIMSELF IS GOD’S WORD, but scripture does not say thay “exactly” it say he is “Called” the word of God, so my question to you is why is he “CALLED ” it, is it BECAUSE HE REALLY “IS” GOD’S WORDS, or is it because he speaks “GOD’S WORDS” TO US?. You trying to make the man JESUS, THE ACTUAL WORDS HE SPOKE, making him a God, but Jesus, on the other hand said, the words he was speaking to us were “NOT” HIS WORDS. So common sense should tell you he is “not” himself actually Gods words.
If i “call” an airplane a bird, dose that actually make the airplane a bird, or if i say a ship is a she, does that actually make it a women. Saying JESUS IS “CALLED” the word of God does not actuall make him GOD’S WORDS. NOW IF THAT scripture had said, he “is” the word of God, then you would have a point. But as it is, you are only speculating. But we have many scriptures that prove he is not actually a GOD OR GOD’S WORDS,
T8…..JESUS DID NOT PREEXIST HIS BERTH ON THIS EARTH EITHER, he is simple a fellow human being born of a women just the exact same way we are, GOD The Father supplied his male DNA, in Mary, and after nine months of jestation , he was born, THE ONLY HUMAN BEGOTTEN (born through be flesh BERTH process) by GOD HIMSELF. GOD IMPREGNATED A HUMAN WOMEN AND HAD A DIRECT SON BORN TO HIM THROUGH THE FLESH OF MANKIND.
T8…..if you do not see it this way you are not standing in the truth of GOD, YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO WHAT WE ARE SAYING BROTHER. COME COMPLETELY OUT OF BABYLON, NOT PART WAY OUT, and this site could become a true HEAVEN NET GATHERING PEOPLE TO GO INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD. IMO
peace and love to you and yours. ……………..gene

Hi KW,
Why would you offer the words of a man whose words reflect vain philosophy and not truth?
Philo and John use the same form of speech possibly because they were both from and/or addressing the same culture. The words were addressed to a subculture of Jews and and interpreted by that subculture. Philo attempts to explain the ideas of that culture to a group of Greeks. John on the other hand is writing to the subculture in order to demonstrate Jesus is the promised Anointed of God.
The sum is that a few words with understanding is greater than a multitude without understanding.
November 20, 2015 at 9:15 am#805035NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Why would you follow a man of the world when we have the spiritual words of scripture?
November 21, 2015 at 4:58 am#805056GeneBalthropParticipantTo all…….”brethern, you have NO NEED OF A TEACHER, THE “SPIRIT” ITSELF will teach you all things. All who have the spirit reconize the sound of the spirit. The true sheep hear the sound of their sheppard ,they know not the sound of a false sheppard and will not follow him.
He that has an ear let him hear.

The Word came from heaven.
The human vessel came from the womb of his mother.
November 21, 2015 at 10:53 am#805060kerwinParticipantNick,
Why is you faith so week?
John is a human and you claim that his words come from God and yet you fear understanding those words.
It is Paul, another you claim with mouth speaks the word of God, who said “I would rather hear a few words with understanding than a multitude without”.
If you believe what you claim then you would seek understanding.
November 21, 2015 at 10:54 am#805061kerwinParticipantGene,
The Spirit teaches so why does the New Testament exist?
November 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm#805069942767ParticipantHi Nick:
Did the Spirit act independently of the body or through the body? It is what God was doing through Jesus that matters and gives us life. He spoke those Word of God to humanity which if believed with a repentant heart will give life to the soul, but Jesus gave his life and shed his blood for the propitiation of our sins, and so, if he had not obeyed God without sin even unto death on the cross, and had not been raised from the dead, we would still be in our sins.

The human vessel came from the womb of Mary.
So, God did not have anything do with this? Do you believe that the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary and that is how the human vessel was conceived in her womb.
Also, relative to what you state about the breath of God, and call the human spirit, all of humanity have the breath of God, but unless they have been born again, they are dead in their trespasses. It is the Word of God that gives life to the soul.
The life of the flesh is in the blood.
Love in Christ,
MartyNovember 21, 2015 at 1:24 pm#805071942767ParticipantHi T8:
Agreed.
So if Jesus came in the flesh and the Word became flesh, then is Jesus the Word of God?
Luke 4:
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God.
Jesus was led by the Spirit.lk4
Would you ascribe his activities to his flesh or the Spirit?
November 21, 2015 at 4:02 pm#805075NickHassanParticipantHi 94,
He was a son of God by conception too but the sonship that matters is according to the Spirit at the Jordan.
