Nick,
If He judges someone already clean by the Word then He may decide to give the blessing .
Are you interpreting that word according to what Peter stated or are you giving it a new meaning?
Acts 10:28Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
November 28, 2015 at 6:47 pm#805255NickHassanParticipantHi kW,
Would you submit the Lord God to your legalistic demands?
Jn15.3
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
November 28, 2015 at 6:57 pm#805256kerwinParticipantNick,
I am not subject God to a righteousness that is by human effort in testing your conclusions.
I asked you if you misunderstood Peter’s understanding of his dream not what Jesus told Peter earlier.
John 15:1-10Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
15 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. 9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Some of Jesus’ words make it sound as if the new covenant was in effect even before he sacrificed himself. Other words make it seem as if it is yet to come. For instance, how could they be in him and him in them unless they already had the Holy Spirit to walk by?
November 28, 2015 at 7:23 pm#805257NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
They were pronounced clean by Christ Jesus in Jn 15, they had the Spirit from jn 20, but they were not baptised in the Spirit till Pentecost.
God Is SOVEREIGN, not men.
November 28, 2015 at 9:32 pm#805266kerwinParticipantNick,
Are you giving those passage your own meaning?
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:
If you walk according to the Spirit then you bear its fruit.
Those are the words of the new covenant and not the old and yet they are from John 14.
November 29, 2015 at 7:19 am#805269NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Seek ye first the kingdom and everything else will be added to you.
Attempting to walk in the Spirit without receiving the Spirit is folly.
November 29, 2015 at 7:32 am#805270kerwinParticipantNick,
Are you claiming that Jesus spoke those words to his student-adherents because they were seeking to enter the kingdom of heaven and not because they already had the Spirit?
November 29, 2015 at 7:58 am#805272NickHassanParticipantHi kW,
These words were spoken in mt 6 at the beginning of the ministry of the Holy One of God.
The words are eternally true and not subject to your carnal analysis.
November 29, 2015 at 8:51 am#805274kerwinParticipantNick,
Your judgement that my words are “carnal” is itself carnal for it comes from the flesh.
I assume by your response that the answer to my question is no.
I assume by your unwillingness to address the words of Jesus in John 15:1-10 that you do not understand them. I don’t either which is why I am trying to determine what they mean.
November 29, 2015 at 9:39 am#805275NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
We know from the words of the Master that his listeners were clean and ready to be joined to the vine, given a share in the Spirit.
He took the opportunity to teach about remaining safely in the vine.
November 29, 2015 at 12:49 pm#805276kerwinParticipantNick,
The literal meaning of Jesus words is not of the future but rather of the present.
So you believe he used those present tense verbs to tell them they were ready to be joined to the vine.
November 29, 2015 at 1:47 pm#805277NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
‘ You are already clean ‘ is very present day.
November 29, 2015 at 3:25 pm#805282kerwinParticipantNick,
So are the words ” Abide in me, and I in you.”
He declared student adherents clean because they abide in him but the words ” Abide in me, and I in you” sound like he is speaking of the Spirit.
November 29, 2015 at 4:13 pm#805286GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin……I believe it was the spirit of God speaking through JESUS, that is what keep us in JESUS AND JESUS IN US. The common tie is the spirit of God, that puts us in God the Father and Jesus and all true saints of GOD. I believe Nick knows that brother.
peace and love to you and yours. …………….gene
November 29, 2015 at 5:55 pm#805290kerwinParticipantGene,
The mystery I am speaking of is that Jesus speaks as if the new covenant is in effect even though it will not be in effect until he ascends to heaven.
November 30, 2015 at 6:02 am#805314GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin…..As i recall scripture says, “the Mystery WAS “HOW” God was “in” CHRIST JESUS, reconcilling the world to himself”. We all know God the Father was in him, Jesus said that over and over, but we still do not know “HOW” God does that, with our brother Jesus or anyone else for that matter. Maybe somethings will always remain a mystery. WE KNOW GOD THE FATHER communicates his intellects to us and through us by his spirit indwelling us, so “his” words have to be from spirit, as JESUS SAID THEY WERE.

November 30, 2015 at 6:38 am#805315NickHassanParticipantHi GB,
Stay with Revelation.
Scripture never speaks of God having intellects.
That is your own dogma.
November 30, 2015 at 8:22 am#805324kerwinParticipantGene,
God in Christ is part of the mystery but so is Christ in believers (1 Timothy 3:16, Colossians 1:27)
There are other mysteries but the angels longed to look into the one that has been a mystery for ages.
November 30, 2015 at 8:27 am#805325kerwinParticipantGene,
The mechanics are seemingly easy as God lives in believers by his Spirit and Jesus in his disciples-adherents by the same Spirit. The fruits of that Spirit are the sum of the Law. All are united by that Spirit and by faith.
December 16, 2015 at 5:58 am#806152GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin…..I also believe it is the spirit of God, that puts us in God the Father and Jesus and each other brother. That God may be in all and through all.
peace and love to you and yours. …………gene
