Hi BD,
Since you agree with me that “ALL Scripture” is true: I have a question for you…
Who is he, the “Spirit of Truth” ?
John 16:7-15 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away (die on the cross):
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father,
and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he
will show you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15 All things that [God the Father] hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.B'shem

It really doesn't say some Muslims believe it was talking about Muhammad. But really who do you think this general statement is about?February 2, 2012 at 3:02 am#275534Ed JParticipantHi BD,

It's not for me to speculate nor does it really concern me but I will tell you this it could not be “The Holy Spirit” as the Holy Spirit was already present.February 2, 2012 at 4:12 am#275541Ed JParticipantHi BD,
If you believe that it was not the “HolySpirit”, what do you say about this verse?
Acts 1:3-8 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs,
being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart
from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have 'heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the HolySpirit not many days hence.6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the HolySpirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.Seems pretty clear to me, what say you?

EDJohn 20:22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:He gave them the Holy Spirit while he was there so he dd not go away for them to receive it this is a good reason why the “Spirit of truth” spoken about was not The Holy Spirit but a person to come.
Besides that many already had the Holy Spirit but look at this
John 7:38-40
King James Version (KJV)
38He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
41Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
Notice they were also waiting for “the Prophet” So if John the baptist isn't that Prophet and Jesus isn't that Prophet who is?
Remember Jesus gave the holy ghost
John 20:22
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:Luke 1:41
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:Luke 1:67
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,Luke 2:25
And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. - AuthorPosts
