Ed, just answer my question please, and then I might be all ears 🙂
Again I ask, please go through each of the below scriptures, and tell me what they each mean to you, without the use of other scripture (I just want your plain understanding in your own words)
Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away. (Pslam 102.25)
Jesus said: “Heaven and earth will pass away” (Matthew 24:35 and Mark 13:31).
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! (2nd Peter 3.10)
For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 4)
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. (1 Thess 4.17)
In My Father’s house are many dwelling places, if it were not so, I would have told you, for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14.2)

I believe that God means exactly what he says.

February 20, 2016 at 7:45 pm#809398Ed JParticipantHi Miia,
Asking for a explanation is not that same as asking a question; did you somehow think it was?
2 Peter 3:10 says the works are what is going to be burned up.
Why is this so hard for you to understand?
February 20, 2016 at 7:53 pm#809401MiiaParticipantYou can’t answer the question can you Ed. A question is something that is asked of you – and I asked you to go through each verse and explain them in your own words – which you can’t do.

Nice try Ed, but it does not just say ‘the works’. You missed out some words look again.

February 22, 2016 at 3:30 am#809453Ed JParticipantHi Miia,
I have explained the two of them, but you keep ‘cut and pasting’ the same list as I haven’t addressed your complaint.
Why don’t you comment on my explanations instead of continuing to act like I haven’t addressed your complaint?_______________

Ed JFebruary 22, 2016 at 4:46 am#809454Ed JParticipantHi Miia,
I could just say “nice try” too, but does that accomplish anything?
You need to look at the information I’ve been providing and consider it.First in 2Peter 3:10 Peter states what’s going to happen in the heavens, as in
shake the heavens, which compares directly to Hebrews 12:26. Then he says…the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up,
which compares directly to 1Cor.3:13-15 (works are being burned up).Why do you insist God is going to destroy the works of his own hands? That is NOT Biblical.
(Psalms 104:5) “Who laid the foundations of the earth,
that it (the earth) should not be removed for ever.”(Psalms 78:69) “And he built his sanctuary like high palaces,
like the earth which he hath established for ever.””and the scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35)

February 22, 2016 at 9:42 am#809467MiiaParticipantFirst in 2Peter 3:10 Peter states what’s going to happen in the heavens, as in
shake the heavens, which compares directly to Hebrews 12:26. Then he says…the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up,
which compares directly to 1Cor.3:13-15 (works are being burned up).And in the same chapter Peter warns us not to TWIST what is said.
Peter did NOT say ‘Shake the heavens’ like you imply. He said ‘Pass away with a roar – Destroy with intense HEAT’.
The reason you don’t want the earth to be destroyed is because you love the world and the things of the world. (Your admiration of Donald Trump, etc is evidence).
“Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”, (1 John 2.15).Â
Jesus said ““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt 6.19-21)
February 22, 2016 at 10:21 am#809468MiiaParticipantPsalms 104.5.
He set the earth on its foundations not to be *SHAKEN forever and ever*
*Definition: mot:Â to totter, shake, slip
*Definition: olam: long duration, antiquity, futurity“For thus says the LORD of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land.” (Haggai 2.6)
The same word, olam, is used for the “everlasting covenant”, but in the New Testament: “In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.”, (Hebrews 8.13)
http://biblehub.com/text/psalms/104-5.htm
The same word olam is used in Psalms 78.69.
Moving on:
“God is not a man, that he should lie” (Num 23:19)
Indeed.
Of old you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you will remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away. (Pslam 102.25)Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Matthew 24.35

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Luke 21.33
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved. 2nd Peter 3.10

You are free to believe God is going to destroy the work of his
own hands, but that is not what the Scripture is saying.Understand what the ‘rudiments’ are.
That is what is going to get burned up._______________

“Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him
in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation;
even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them OF THESE THINGS; in which are some things
hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also
the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” (2Peter 3:14-16)February 27, 2016 at 11:08 am#809742Ed JParticipantHi Miia,
The Apostle Peter says the Apostle Paul also
speaks “of these things”; can you show me where
the Apostle Paul says God is going to destroy the earth?_______________
