Is the Earth growing?

Ge 1:2 Now (?)the earth was formless (?)and empty (?), darkness was over the surface of the deep(?), and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.(?)

Regarding the expanding Earth theory.
The planet could have been in a state of inflation and contracted so that the land covered the water. Then the next inflation led to cracks in the land where the covered waters of the deep spouted forth. I think it says somewhere in scripture that in the time of the flood, the land started to break apart. Not sure though as I cannot find it.

Regardless, this theory states that planets contract and expand. We already know that stars do this.

However, please note that this is speculation. I don't hold a definite view here.
