Quote (Tim Kraft @ Oct. 24 2009,02:26) Moralism is nothing more than self-righteousness! Moralism is a man made mental drug that salves a dirty consciousness and says its ok you are doing good! Moralism can not know God/Love. Love makes no judgments. No judgments means no wrong. Individual choice. If one does kindness from love then he is of God. If one does kindness by obedience or through subjection of any sort then it has been done apart from Love. Love gives, love does not obey. Love has no resistence against anything. Love is free. If someone larger commands someone smaller to sit on his lap and love him, the obedience to that command is from fear not love. Bless you, TK
So God does not want obedience to his moral character?October 24, 2009 at 9:43 am#153242ConstitutionalistParticipantFor whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matthew 12:50
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. John 5:30

I have no idea what you call moralism but self-righteousness is when you are content with your own righteousness at any stage and yet you are still short of the goal of being like God in true holiness and righteousness.

If you go by the dictionary definition of moralism as an emphasis, especially an undue concern for morality then I would agree. After all Christians are called to be like God in true righteousness and holines which certainly sounds at least like an emphasis on morality to me. In addition Jesus promised those that hunger and thirst for righteousness that they will be filled. I am sure if you hunger and thirst for something you will have and undue concern for it. You would certainly not be content anywhere short of your goal.

Hi CON,
The character of God is the fruit of the Spirit.[gal5]Whosoever wishes to save his own life will lose it.

Are you using the definition that moralism is “an emphasis, especially an undue concern for morality?”
If so then “what do you think the point scripture is making when it calls Christians to be like God in true holiness and righteousness?”
In addition “don’t you think an individual that hungers and thirsts for righteousness is unduly concerned with it?”
But then perhaps you are adding to the definition I gave previously. In that case I will speculate you speaking of striving toward righteousness by human effort.
If that is correct then I am not in disagreement with you. I do not believe that Constitutionalist is either.
I obtained that definition from an online dictionary.

That is how you reach the goal a moralist has.

If you are stating that the only way to become truly righteous is to submit yourself to God and allow him to do his work through you then I agree.
That is why Jesus promised us blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven, Matthew 5:3.

Hi Nick,
We are given the free gift of grace of salvation by how God chooses.Scripture teaches AGAINST the false views of Justification by works or justification by faith ALONE.
I believe strongly God judges by the heart, by agape [true Christian Love]
The two laws of Love is all that we must *live* by – the rest will all fall into place.
Yet if we don't have the foundation of THE one and only Son of God we are on quick sand.
