Hi KW,
“He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:
the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:48)The Words of the master are spirit and truth.
No use accepting the master but rejecting that his words are of the Spirit.

(1)You must be reborn of water and the Spirit.
Hi Nick,
(1) How is one ‘re-born of water’???
This seems to be the very same question that Nicodemus asked?
Christ pointed out his error in this, making it known to him it was a spiritual rebirth.(2) Is one not instead first born of water,
and then “Born Again” as in “a re-newed spirit”? y/nTwo questions Nick,
please answer both, OK?Note: You have point #2 expressed first.

Ed JMarch 4, 2016 at 1:15 pm#810017NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
two questions and the answer is to follow Jesus.
We follow Jesus through the waters of baptism -in his name
We follow Jesus in being anointed from above by his Spirit.
Our old life is finished and we are given the opportunity to be sons of God if we follow the Spirit and seek the graces in Christ.

We’re straying from the topic a bit here,
but maybe not so far in asking y/n questions.Do you believe that context can help us
determine what Jesus meant when he
said “born of water” to Nicodemus?y/n

Hi Nick,
Is that a “Yes” or a “No”?
March 4, 2016 at 3:36 pm#810030NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
The context can help.
The Son of God was offering a bridge of understanding to a man yet entrapped in carnal thinking.
The answer he gave was spiritual.

No.
The human spirit is not renewed.
We are given an earnest of the Holy Spirit-2cor1

Hi Nick,
OK, that’s a “Yes” – thank you!

OK now is this a “Yes”?
or is this an answer of “No”?
“I don’t know” – please specify ???March 4, 2016 at 4:04 pm#810037Ed JParticipantHi Ed,

Ps 51.10f
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
AND
cast me not away from Thy presence; and take take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
The spirit of man is not the Holy Spirit

Hi Nick,
Thank you; and as you have clearly pointed out,
your words appear to be at odds with Psalm 51:10.What “spirit” is the Psalmist asking here be renewed?

Ed JMarch 7, 2016 at 11:16 am#810204NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
Clearly it is not the Holy Spirit as the Spirit is mentioned in the next verse and is ever Holy.
Neither is it the spirit of life given to men.
It is one of the occasions when spirit means soul.
March 14, 2016 at 6:12 pm#810467Ed JParticipantHi Everyone,
For me asking y/n based questions is merely a tool
that helps to define others doctrinal beliefs,
so that the discussion can be focused.Instead what I see is beliefs repeatedly stated ‘over and over’,
combined with an unwillingness to show the proof of
why they are holding fast to them.“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1Thess.5:21)
Should it not be our goal to show others “WHY”
we believe what we do – especially when asked?_______________

Ed JHi Everyone,
Is this not true?
