Quote (kejonn @ Nov. 21 2007,04:54) Hey Mrs IM, you're confusing me with your new avatar! Mandy used that for so long I have to look twice to see who is really posting .
Funny how our Avatar's become “us”, huh?By the way – your's made me laugh!
Also, I have become a bit suspicious lately, as you mentioned earlier in a post. I think the reason why is because I'm learning that it's hard to put complete trust in something or someone. It could be this brain tumor thing is playing with my emotions, or it could be that I am questioning Christianity again (like I did when I was researching the Trinity and found that to be a farse). Seeking and searching are hazardous, sometimes……..
November 20, 2007 at 6:18 pm#72443Not3in1ParticipantSis Irene, would you mind terribly changing your Avatar so that other's are not confused? There seems to be a plethora of them to choose from.
Thanks!

Quote You don't believe in God and you do not believe in Zeus either.
So how come you don't spend the same amount of time debunking Zeus, Baal, or whatever.
Why pick on the God of Yeshua the Messiah? Is it a spirit that motivates you. Why that particular God?
If fundamentalist Zeusists were suicide bombing people, or devout followers of Diana were lobbying the US to “End Times” brinkmanship with Middle Eastern countries or believers in Juju were telling people that they shouldn’t use condoms because they are full of evil spirits then I would be more vociferously against them, too. The various beliefs in the Abrahamic god are the most damaging today, and probably the most dangerous in the history of the world.Quote I don't believe that my greatest grandfather was a primitive ape. But I don't spend my life debunking this theory either. Seriously I have better things to do.
Well I am afraid you choose not to believe well-established facts, then. That’s fine, but you should acknowledge that while a portion of the population like to hide their heads in the sand of their creation myths, most of the christian world has moved on and realised that Genesis is at best an allegorical fable for ancient and ignorant people. You have already spent a reasonable amount of typing here trying and failing to debunk the theory of evolution.Quote So why do you spend so much of your life trying to destroy people's faith. I think a lot of people actually feel sorry for you. I remember when I was like this. But today, I consider myself back then as a man who lacked maturity and direction in life. I was also young in years, but that wasn't really a suitable excuse.
I shall try to resist patronising you in turn…Quote May you find peace one day.
Will you talk to the JWs and Mormons for me then, and tell them not to visit me any more, or the Catholics who seem so keen to decide for me what I should be allowed to watch on TV, so I may find peace? Actually, judging by the nature of christianity’s long history of laughable schisms they are more likely to listen to me than to you.Stuart

Stu What is laughable that you are on a Christian website throwing your weight around and telling us what is right or wrong. You will never destroy my faith in our Savior Jesus Christ I know Him for to long now. It is obviously to me that you never knew Him, so you have no Idea who He is. So get a life and leave us alone.

I don't think you support the suicide bombings done by those who believe Jesus was a prophet, or in the Catholics' dangerous attempts to control what people do in their bedrooms. Such people take comfort from what they see as others believing in the same god as them.Stuart

But this part of the thread has (by the post of a moderator, no less) become about why the Judeo-Christian god is under attack. Do you think we need a new thread for that? It is not science, it is international politics. Where do you think that belongs?Stuart

November 20, 2007 at 7:49 pm#72453IM4TruthParticipantMandy You seem so sad to me, what is wrong? Think of Jesus, Mandy what he did for us. He gave His life so we can have eternal Life. I have had spiritual experiences with others after they died and I truly belief that they are in Heaven. The Love that I experienced after my best friend died was the Heavenly kind, that I never experienced before, not quit that strongly. I have a personal relationship with Jesus, but that time was special and I will never forget it. I am looking forward seeing them again. And for the first time meet my biological Father. Not to speak of our Heavenly Father and Jesus. God has let me know that He will always be there for me and that He loves me. And He loves you too.
Peace and Love Irene
November 20, 2007 at 8:53 pm#72454Not3in1ParticipantYes, it's true. I've been sad lately. More than that though, I've been searching again. Again….re-evaluating the “truth” that I have. I won't deny my heavenly Father. I, too, have had some experiences that have proven he IS. However, a lot of what Tow is saying regarding Jesus does make a little sense to me. So, I'm investigating.
It's always hard to see people we love investigating other versions of the “truth”. It can be scary for folks to watch someone who seems strong in the “faith” exploring other ideas of that faith. I know my sister is beside herself since I left the doctrine of the Trinity. But I must search God out…….leaving no rock un-turned. Investigating all claims and theories, trying to reconcile what I have been taught with what the Spirit is saying to me. And this is getting me a bit down because I want to just believe. But this is called “blind faith” and I'm not certain anymore that I can enjoy this luxury.
Thank you for your concern – that means a lot to me! Please just pray for me. God holds me in his hands. And he knows I want to please him.
Love to you,

In life you can build or destroy. Sometimes destroying something is necessary, but if it is your focus, then it means that you don't get to build anything meaningful.
In fact I would go as far to say that destroying something is only useful if you can build afterward. Otherwise the thing you destroyed can come back to life.
So why do you spend so much of your life trying to destroy people's faith. I think a lot of people actually feel sorry for you. I remember when I was like this. But today, I consider myself back then as a man who lacked maturity and direction in life. I was also young in years, but that wasn't really a suitable excuse.
I was very critical and was only interested in destroying things.
But I was saved from that and now I have peace.
May you find peace one day.
I can likely answer this one. Stu doesn't care about Zeus because people who believe in him (the same ones who think pro wrestling is real) don't come knocking on his door telling him if he doesn't believe in Heracles he will burn in Hades. Or at least be in danger of a thunderbolt.
Actually there is some validity to this. I've spoken with a few atheists in the past years and they agree that the reason many atheists — like Dawkins and Hutchins — have become so outspoken in their battle against people who believe in God is because of the evangelizing efforts and the invasion of fundamentalists into government law making. There used to be a time when atheists kept to themselves but Christianity — and to some degree, Islam — has pushed them to become more vocal.Of course this could all fit last days as well but since I'm not big into prophecy I cannot say for sure. I tend to not read Revelation too much because you can't really form good theology based on that particular book of the Bible.
Stuff like this makes me wonder if Christians such as Christadelphians are reading the truth of scripture. They are pacifist and don't get involved in politics. I don't quite know if I can agree with that but if fundamentalists didn't try to get into law making maybe the atheists would have remained quiet. That and the occasional JW or Mormon at their door .
But then again if we as Christians did not stand up for much of our beliefs where would the world be now? I think there can be a good balance but shamefully many people don't seek balance. I think the efforts of the founding fathers of America has some merit because they truly espoused freedom of religion — which would include a lack thereof. When laws are made that force certain beliefs on people I can see where they want to fight back.
For instance, In Alabama and many other southern states there are “sex toy” laws. IOW, you can't legally sell adult novelties in these states. Personally, I don't see where peoples private lives in this matter is the government's business. What harm is a sex toy doing to anyone? I thought laws were menat to protect the public.
But its all about money when you get down to it. After all, viagra and similar drugs could be seen as sexual aids just like these novelties yet the drug companies line the pockets of politicians to make sure these things can still be sold without question. Such double standards IMHO.
Hmmm, seems I've lost focus on the original subject. No more soap box!
