Hi Nick
No, so the scripture says.
1 Corinthians 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
I am confirming that we can't add anything more to what is being said. It is all written already.
April 15, 2014 at 9:53 am#378039NickHassanParticipantHi J42,
That does not mean folk cannot adjust or misinterpret.April 15, 2014 at 11:10 am#378042journey42ParticipantThat's right Nick
Exactly.
But many do misinterpret.
Especially those that write books
and those misinterpretations seem to be the favourite,
and the true interpretations often ignored, hated and ridiculed.April 15, 2014 at 4:18 pm#378049journey42ParticipantNick
I am sorry about those things I said to you.
I should of just kept my thoughts to myself or messaged you privately.
I stand before the Lord corrected, and take full responsibility for causing any embarrassment or shame for you.
I hope you can forgive me for being so rude,
and I wish you all the blessings that the Lord can possibly give.April 15, 2014 at 4:59 pm#378052NickHassanParticipantHi j42,
ThanksYou say
“1 Corinthians 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

That just means what it says
If someone has the spirit of prophecy it does not mean that he.she will have to blurt out prophecies at inappropriate times
He /she has charge of the use of that giftWhat is written is often poorly understood sadly

Hi NickThe spirit of prophecy is understanding the prophecies, a gift to be shared, and not buried.
and yes, we don't just blurt out whenever to anyone we know.
But here we are discussing prophecies,
and blurting out to the believers who already have a foundation in Christ, hoping they will grasp the understanding, and be filled with more truth and joy.It would be good if more can come on here and join the discussions, and break away from endless debates which no one wins.
If they put more truth into their spirit, and move on to solids, the creases will be ironed out when they go back to it.
The more one has, the more one will be given. (spiritual knowledge, wisdom and understanding)Matthew 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

Really
Is that written? Can the gift be proven?
April 16, 2014 at 3:05 am#378128NickHassanParticipantHi J42,
Many claim to be prophets but all disagree so as we were warned many will be FALSE PROPHETS
1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.April 16, 2014 at 3:07 am#378129NickHassanParticipantHi,
Many mistake the spirit of divination for the Holy SpiritActs 16
16 It happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a slave-girl having a spirit of divination met us, who was bringing her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 Following after Paul and us, she kept crying out, saying, “These men are bond-servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you [g]the way of salvation.” 18 She continued doing this for many days. But Paul was greatly annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” And it came out at that very [h]moment.April 16, 2014 at 3:46 am#378132NickHassanParticipantHi,
So how do those who claim to be prophets show their claim is true?
They will always believe that what they see in scripture is pure truth but should be just accept that?April 16, 2014 at 3:56 am#378134NickHassanParticipantHi j42,
There is no gift of understanding prophecy.

NickHebrews 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: ….
If one doesn't understand the prophesies, then one can't be a judge. He wouldn't know what to believe, whether it be true or false. He'll probably start looking on the internet for other peoples answers and accept the one he likes.
Can you prove Jesus Christ came in the flesh?
No you can't.
But you believe because of faith.
So you must believe everything that is written then?1 Corinthians 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
So yes, the gift can be proven, but only to the one who understands. Not to the rest.

NickWhy wouldn't there be a gift of understanding prophecy?
The OT prophets were until John, and we have the apostles who gave us record of which things are to come. They were prophesying. We cannot give anything other than what is said, and to seek the truth means interpreting those prophesies, so we can understand them. If we keep the interpretations to ourselves, then we are hiding our penny in the sand.
Prophesying for us is confirming the prophesies. Nothing new, but new babes in Christ still on the milk.
Also, because we are of the last generation, things are more clearer than what it was for the prophets back then. We are so advanced because technology has come very far and we have history now with all the fine details, and what's happening today behind the scenes. They were speaking God's Word, and they had visions. We are given understanding of the details by what we are experiencing today.
Matthew 13:17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
April 16, 2014 at 9:52 am#378145NickHassanParticipantHi J42,
It is not a gift recorded in 1Cor 12 because all born of the Spirit can learn to hear the Spirit in the Word.
Teaching can make them reliant again on man.April 16, 2014 at 9:54 am#378146NickHassanParticipantHi j42,
So how do you KNOW you are gifted in this way?April 16, 2014 at 9:57 am#378147NickHassanParticipantHi j42

4 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
April 16, 2014 at 10:03 am#378148NickHassanParticipantHi J42,
You say“So yes, the gift can be proven, but only to the one who understands”
Everyone claims this understanding and their sole criterion is their opinion it seems.
April 16, 2014 at 10:05 am#378149NickHassanParticipantHi J42,
Was this confirmed to you by a vision or a dream or through the laying on of hands?April 16, 2014 at 10:06 am#378150NickHassanParticipantHi j42
