Do you think it is a sin to have the habit of smoking? If not, how does it help your body?February 12, 2015 at 2:41 am#789040GeneBalthropParticipantLightenup…….You didnotread what i said properly, i said “DOES THE FATHER “NEED” US TO GLORIFY HIM”?
The answer is “NO” HE DOES NOT “NEED” US TO, I was not implying we don’t honor and glorfy him in obediance to him fACT “ALL” GOD’S CREATION GLORIFIES HIM.
What do you do with these scriptures, “what is man that you are mindful of him you have made him a little lower then the angels, (now please pay attention ) “YOU HAVECROWNEDHIM WITHGLORY AND HONOR, AND DID SET HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOU HANDS ; YOU HAVE PUT “ALL” THINGS UNDER HIS (mankinds) FEET , FOR IN THAT HE (GOD) PUT “ALL” THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS (mankinds) FEET, HE (GOd) left “nothing” THAT IS NOT PUT UNDER HIM (mankind)”.
We glorfy God and honor him, he honors and glorifies us also. Jesus glorifies ans honor God on the earth , God has also glorified and honored and has put all things under his feet both in heaven and earth, because he is a sonof man and the first man to attain the glory and honor affored “all” mankind.
You also are in error congradulating “me”, I was not the one who quite smoking, i tried for a whole year and could not quite the addition, I GAVE UP and then i took it to GOD THEN, AND HE “INSTANTLY” TOOK THE ADDITION AWAY FROM ME, WHEN I GOT UP FROM THAT PRAYER , IT WAS AS IF I NEVER HAD A CIGARETT ADDITION IN MY LIFE, IT REMAINS THAT WAY TO THIS DAY. I take “NO” CREDIT for my quiting it was “ALL” the work of God the Father, not me.
Glory and honor goes both ways, we give glory and honor to God and he gives us also glory and honor. It a two way street, remember what Jesus said… John 17:4-5

February 12, 2015 at 5:30 am#789041LightenupParticipantDo you argue about EVERYTHING? Do you keep your lamppost up at night arguing with it?
I mention we are to glorify God with our choices and you debate that. I tried to encourage you and tell you “good for you that you quit smoking” and you argue about that. Try to just relax and get the ‘spirit’ of the post, it will help your blood pressure. 🙂
February 13, 2015 at 12:46 am#789058GeneBalthropParticipantLightenup……..Good way to dodge the truth AND IGNORE “EXACTLY” what I said. Fact is, it is you who are dodging truth and arguing, by not reading what is exactly being said, As i pointed out to you by you misunderstanding what i wrote, and My blood pressure is fine thank you.
peace and love to you and yours. ……………….gene
February 13, 2015 at 8:28 am#789062LightenupParticipantDon’t misunderstand my neglecting to address your every word as ‘dodging’ what you said. I will address any point you want to make, one at a time here https://heavennet.net/forums/topic/lightenup-and-genebalthrop-only/
We can take turns answering each others concerns without interruption over there. I have sent you this link a number of times…it seems that you are the one dodging the issues. There is an answer to one of your questions there and also a question of mine that you need to answer before we can move on. See you there.
February 13, 2015 at 10:37 pm#789085MiiaParticipantTo anyone,
Firstly, Paul here was talking about what we EAT and what days we observe, was he not? He was not talking about drugs drunkenness or fornication.
Secondly, I think in regards to smoking it all depends. I smoke, I also have tattoos (cultural arm bands), however I can sit among the lost and I can connect with them. Though smoking is not good for health and is an addiction.
February 14, 2015 at 12:58 pm#789096ProclaimerParticipantHappy is he that condemneth not himself
Here are the options:
- A man does not condemn himself because his conscience is seared, but God condemns him because of sin.
- A man does not condemn himself and neither does God because the person has salvation and the Believer has faith in this salvation.
- A man condemns himself, but God does not because the man has salvation. The man may not be happy with his life, nevertheless he is saved, perhaps as one escaping from the flames.
To me it is a bit of a balancing act.
- Should we not condemn ourselves regardless of how we live our life.
- Should we condemn ourselves, but hope in the salvation of God.
For me there are two categories of sin for Believers
- A sin that leads to death
- A sin that doesn’t lead to death.
So what sins lead to death?
- Undealt or consistent adultery, fornication, lies, etc. See the commandments.
So what sins lead not to death?
- Things committed that are not commandments such as neglect, gossip, etc.
While it is sin that leads to death, when we consider the free gift of salvation, it is only sins that we do not repent of such as breaking the commandments that put us in danger of losing salvation. Ultimately if we live for the flesh, like the flesh we also will perish, but if we live for the Spirit, then like the Spirit we will live.
We also need to know that we are all commandment breakers, but we need to repent of these sins before God. When we fall, we have a covenant with God and he is just and able to forgive us our sins. Repentance is ongoing.
February 14, 2015 at 11:06 pm#789121MiiaParticipantGood one t8.
As a sidenote to the topic of smoking though, it looks like anyone smoking in some Middle Eastern countries could be beheaded!
Isis beheads cigarette smokers because smoking is ‘slow suicide’
It is common knowledge that Isis punishes acts deemed haram, such as drinking alcohol and swearing. But it appears that their radical interpretation of Sharia law makes smoking cigarettes equally offensive to the terror group, judging by the recent beheading of an official found with a cigarette in his mouth.
According to Isis’ so-called Preaching Office, smoking is ‘slow suicide’, as well as being ‘vain’ and therefore forbidden.
‘Every smoker should be aware that with every cigarette he smokes in a state of trance and vanity is disobeying god,’ it said.
‘Three days following the issuance of the statement, selling tobacco and shisha will be strictly prohibited and those who insist on selling them will bring injustice upon themselves and upon other people. All tobacco quantities will be burned and the seller will be punished according to Sharia.’
February 15, 2015 at 4:45 am#789125GeneBalthropParticipantT8……Very good post brother, the apostle John said , if we see our brother sin a sin not unto death we can pray for him and GOD WILL FORGIVE HIM, he also said there is a sin that leads unto death death and went on to say “I DO NOT SAY YOU SHOULD PRAY FOR THAT”. I think he was speaking about a murderer or perhaps unrepented sins. 1 John 5:11-21
Our FAITH OR BELIEF IN THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS THE CHRIST, FOR OUR SINS, SEEMS TO BE THE KEY OF FORGIVENESS OF SINS. While we are not yet born of GOD , BECAUSE IT SAY HE That is “born” of GOD “CANNOT” SIN, But he that is “BEGOTTEN” of God, keep himself. This to me means being begotten does alows for sins, but we can have them still forgiven if we ask GOD TO FORGIVE US, and in this way we “Are KEEPING” OURSELVES, IN A CONSTANT REPENTANT STATE OF MIND. IMO
We also have scripture that says, “where sin did abound “GRACE” did much more abound”. So the “BEGOTTEN” of GOD ARE KEPT UNDER THE GRACE OF GOD it appears. THAT IS NOT SAYING WE HAVE A LISENSES TO SIN THOUGH, BUT GRACE IS GRACE IF WE NEED IT NON THE LESS. IMO

February 24, 2015 at 9:25 pm#789511NickHassanParticipantHi,
Faith is the connection point between God and the man who has been made clean.
Doubt is the enemy that damages this connection.
It attacks the trunk of the tree.
February 25, 2015 at 4:38 am#789520GeneBalthropParticipantNick…..yes it is of FAITH
Rom 4:13-16…..For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of “faith”. For if they which are of the law be heirs, “FAITH” is made void, and the promise made of non effect: because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of “FAITH”, that it might be by “GRACE”; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the “FAITH” of Abraham; who is the father of us all.
peace and love to you and yours. ………..gene
February 25, 2015 at 8:00 am#789534NickHassanParticipantHi GB,
It was faith before the Law and now that Jesus has fulfilled the Law it no longer has mastery over those reborn into Christ Jesus.
It is again faith for them.

Hi,
Faith is the connection point between God and the man who has been made clean.

i disagree with you for it is THE TRUTH ” that is the connection with God ‘
Jn 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Jn 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
February 25, 2015 at 10:07 am#789538NickHassanParticipantHi t,
Knowledge of truth changes nothing about our relationship with God.
Action does.

Knowledge of truth changes nothing about our relationship with God.
Action does.
Heb 11:1 Now faith is being sure(truth) of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Heb 11:2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
Heb 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.Faith is the connection point between God and the man who has been made clean.
Jn 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
Jn 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.there’s only one faith that leads to God almighty and that is the faith based on GOD’S TRUTH anything else is man made and that truth is found in his word
February 25, 2015 at 3:50 pm#789556AndrewADParticipantFaith is like cash to God.If ye give him the cash he is satisfied and thy soul shall be saved.
But do ye have the holy cash? Of course ye do! Only believe and you are saved! For God hath given you the cash through his Christ.God hath given to every man the measure of faith. So praise him!
February 25, 2015 at 3:58 pm#789557NickHassanParticipantHi A,
Faith given is towards a purpose.
Faith without works is uselessness.
Grace and peace comes through Jesus Christ.
Be joined to him and everything spiritually given can be yours.
February 25, 2015 at 5:21 pm#789566AndrewADParticipantDear Nick,I take it you speak to me calling me A. Do you have the cash for the poor? Do you give it to them? if ye do then you give it to God and that is your good work which brings salvation to the soul.
Yes the so called faith without works is dead as St James says.Even demons who are also God’s sons believe in their father.
God requires that spiritual cash and also physical work since we shall be judged by our works even according to Paul the preacher of grace.
It is God that worketh in us both to will and to Do! those good works that merit salvation.
But just what is this work of God? but that ye believe in the poor man that he sent.
February 25, 2015 at 8:07 pm#789573terrariccaParticipantAndrew
if you have no godly truth you have nothing at all to give or to receive from God ,your life is a waste land
February 25, 2015 at 8:23 pm#789574NickHassanParticipantHi A,
Works cannot save us but they are the natural fruit of submission to the Spirit.
There is a gate to the kingdom and a way specified.
Seek ye first the kingdom
