Scriptures were taken from the NIV
Isaiah 30: 19-22 19) Oh people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious He will be when you cry for help! As soon as He hears, He will answer you. 20) Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. 21) Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it.” 22) Then you will defile your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, away with you!
January,2006
While sitting alone in my shop on a small farm just outside of Liberty, Missouri, I cried out to God once again for help. After 20 plus years of crying out and searching and hoping to find Jesus in a real way, I suppose I didn't really expect to hear Him so clearly that day.Isaiah 35:5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.
On that day in the dead of winter, this is what the Lord said to me, “Chris, when are you gonna stop praying the warm fuzzy prayer and start praying some serious prayers?” (The Hard Prayers)
“Lord, exactly what warm fuzzy prayers are You talking about?”
“Chris, you know, the ones where ya ask Me to watch over and protect you and help you be diligent in your work and such.”
“OK Lord, what serious prayers do Ya want me to pray?”
“Well Chris, how about if ya ask Me to kill everything in you that ain't Jesus and fill your cup up with My Holy Spirit.”So, I began to pray in my own naive way, and this is what it sounded like:
“OK Lord Jesus, please kill everything in me that's not Jesus and clean out my cup real good. Get everything out of the way between You and me. I don't care what it costs or how much it hurts. Don't stop even if I kick and scream and complain. Once Ya get the inside of my cup all shiny clean, would Ya please fill me up pressed down, shaken together and running over with Jesus? Oh, and by the way Lord Jesus, I know that Your word says that the fear of God is a good thing and I just don't think I'm afraid of Ya at all, so could Ya please teach me to fear God real good too. Lord, I don't know how much Jesus I can have, but if it's possible, I want my cup so full of Jesus that I glow in the dark, in the name of Jesus, amen.Well, after praying a prayer like that, I just sit there kinda quiet like to let it soak in, what just came out of my mouth. I just couldn't help but get a little scared, cuz I just knew in my heart that Jesus was gonna answer that prayer. Amen? Well, Jesus took that prayer real serious and He just kinda picked me up by my spiritual heels and started shaking real hard to shake all the badness outta me.
I want ya to know that I used to drink and smoke for 20 years and within a few days, Jesus started doing a deep down refining in my life. I no longer smoked or drank and He taught me to fear God real good. Jesus started burning away all the stuff (idols) that I loved more than I loved Him. I found out the hard way that when Jesus says “STOP”, He means STOP, and it don't make any difference whether He's talkin about chewin tobacco or macaroni salad. Also, when Jesus says “ALL”, He means ALL.Proverbs 3:5&6 Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
The truth is, Jesus is interested in every little detail of my life and yours. He wants to pick out what shirt I wear and what I eat and if I eat and who I talk to and how long I sleep and every little detail because He has plans for us and His plans are perfect. (All means All) He's not kiddin around. He really means it. Jesus wants us to walk in perfect obedience and to be holy as He is holy. Now I know what you might be thinking, that's impossible, you can't do that. Well, you'd be right, we can't do that – but Jesus in us can! Surely we can agree that we can't do it and that it has to be Jesus, so then, maybe the best way for that to happen, is for me to ask Jesus to get rid of all of the “sin” out of me and all of the “Chris” out of me and then He can just crawl inside me and walk around like Jesus in the flesh all over again.
I know, I know, I could be wrong about all of this stuff. Maybe this ain't the way and maybe you shouldn't walk in it. Maybe Chris ain't really hearing Jesus. Maybe Jesus ain't even real. Well, there is one sure-fired way to find out. Jesus told me, after I had prayed “The Hard Prayers” for awhile and endured all the refining that went along with them, that I could pray the hard prayers for anybody that He told me to pray them for, and He would honor my prayers. So, what do ya say we find out what's real and what ain't? You can post a prayer request here on the forum in repsonse, or you can send me an email to [email protected] Tell me your first name. Then just tell me what's on your mind.Maybe you don't believe Jesus would really answer such a simple prayer or maybe you don't even believe that Jesus is real or perhaps you just think Chris is a total boob for saying such nonsense. Whatever the case, I'll ask Jesus if He wants me to pray for you and if He says yes then I'll pray real hard and we'll find out together what the truth is and what's real. If Jesus tells me not to pray for you then I won't. I'm not sure why Jesus would tell me not to pray for someone. However, just to be on the safe side, you might want to fall on your knees in the privacy of your own home, and ask the Lord why He doesn't want me to pray for ya, on the outside chance that He's mad at you. Yeah, I know that there's been a lot of TV preachers that have been telling you for a long time that God's not mad at you cause He's a God of Love. Well, they would be correct about Him being a God of love, but there's a good chance that He's mad at some of ya. He's sure been mad at me a few times.
Joel 2:12-14
12)“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” 13)Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity. 14)Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing – grain offerings and drink offerings for the Lord your God.Now I'm not saying that I am anything special. What I am saying is that God has always been faithful to honor the hard prayers when I pray them. If you want to pray the hard prayers for yourself, that's cool too, cuz He really likes it when we come to Him personally.
“The Hard Question” — What do you love more than you love Jesus?
If we pray “The Hard Prayers” together, then the answer to “The Hard Question” will eventually be “Nothing.”My name is Chris, but this isn't about me. This is about Jesus.

Chris, I would like to think that God would not want to get rid of the “Chris” in you but instead to renew the “Chris” in you. What do you think? Don't you think that He made us diverse for His glory. If He got rid of the “Chris” or the “Kathi” then we would lose that diversity.
Anyway, this would really be a hard prayer and one that I would LIKE to be willing to pray but it is scary.

Hi Kathy,I should clarify what I mean by the “Chris” in me. I am referring to my sinful flesh that is supposed to be crucified. I understand that there is a Chris in me that God created, and He likes that Chris, but my sinful flesh just gets in the way between He and I. The way the Lord has showed me that is a simple picture. God created me before I was ever conceived in sin in my mothers womb, and He knew me by name. Then, after I was conceived in sin, the sinful flesh began to accumulate around that created seed of Chris and corrupted him. As the Lord has explained it to me, He wants to crucify all that sinful flesh so that He can get to that little child named Chris that He wants to have a relationship with.
Remember what Jesus said to the Pharisees? He said that they look for the Kingdom of God to come, but the kingdom of God is within us, and if we don't receive it as a little child we cannot enter.
I hope that explained it a little better. I know it looks like a scary prayer to pray, but I found out that the toughest prayers to pray are the ones that we need to pray the most, and I have also found them to be the most effective prayers.

Romans 14:10-11 (NKJV)
10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:“ As I live, says the LORD,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”Matthew 1:21 (New King James Version)
21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV)
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.Love ya,

Part of the Lord teaching them how they should pray was to pray for the Father's will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. It seems to me that asking God to kill my sinful flesh, kill the sin in me, teach me to fear God, are all things that are the Father's will. Hi Chris:Nothing wrong with what you prayed if that is what is what you wanted to say to God. He is our Father, and we can come to him praying in the name of Jesus.
Just trying to show you by my comment that our prayers should be directed to God, and not to Jesus. I do talk to Jesus telling him how much I appreciate what he has done for me in making it possible for me to have the priviledge and honor of being a son of the Most High God, and also, telling him that I look forward to being with him for an eternity.

Hi again Marty,I understand what you mean about Jesus, God and our prayers. Since Jesus is the High Priest, and He makes intercession with the Father for me, that it's ok with Him and the Father for me to pray to Jesus or in His name. I still figure that They're both ok with it too, because my prayers did get answered. Sometimes I talk to the Father, and sometimes I talk to Jesus, and the both seem to like to respond and talk to me as well. If you believe that you need to pray only to God in the name of Jesus, I'm good with that.
Thing is, it was Jesus talking to me when He told me to pray those hard prayers. Since He and I were already talking, I just prayed the hard prayers to Him.
What can I say, it worked. I figure if it wasn't ok with the Father, that He would have told me.

Don't ya reckon that the spirit of the law concerning prayer, is simply that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus?
Love ya,
Chris
Hi Chris:And so, did you ask Jesus to pray to God for you?
The disciples asked him to teach them to pray, and so, I am going to do what he has instructed us to do.
You can do whatever you want. I was just trying to help you to see this.

This also is what Jesus said on this subject:
Quote Jhn 16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: Jhn 16:27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
