While we have a current lively discussion about the Flat Earth, I would like to introduce an obvious conflicting theory to not only the Flat Earth but also the widely accepted theory of Plate Tectonics.
Called the Expanding Earth Theory, the premise is not as absurd as one might think on the outset. The theory’s main reason to exist is it supposedly explains how the continents fit together and we are not just talking about Africa and South America, but the major landmasses also supposedly join at the poles too.
Take a look at this simulation to see why people believe it could be true. If the simulation is accurate, then the theory appears to logically explain the shape of the continents, historical events, and many geological features we see today.
The Expanding Earth Theory asserts that movement of continents is caused not by subduction rather an increase in the volume of Earth. The first question most will ask is why and how does this expansion take place. One thought is the fact that Earth has a natural nuclear reactor in it’s core. This is not only a source for heat but also magnetism. These fluctuations cause varying heat output resulting in the Earth increasing or contracting in volume and can also give rise to variations in the geomagnetic field leading to a reversal of the poles for example. Fluctuations also cause surface folding and flooding as the water under the Earth is pushed out and water moves to fill in extra space that is created and on today’s Earth are the oceans and major seas.
If we were to call on the Bible to see if it can support or debunk this theory, then proponents who are also Christians could point to these following verses”
Genesis 10:32
These were the families of the sons of Noah, according to their generations, in their nations; and from these the nations were divided on the earth after the Flood.Isaiah 45:6-8
so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other. 7 I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. 8 “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it.August 17, 2019 at 12:14 pm#847354ProclaimerParticipant - AuthorPosts
