Quote (davidbfun @ July 31 2010,08:38) Quote (david @ July 31 2010,00:12) Quote However Spirit and YHVH are objects “of” Elohim….and cannot be names. And yet, YHVH appears to be God's name.
“I am Jehovah. That is my name;” (Is 42:8)
“Jehovah of armies being his name…” (Is 54:5)
“That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” (Ps 83:18, King James)
You are wrong….his name is “Jealous”.Ex 34:14 —for you shall not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God—
Can't make up His mind.
You do know that the reason “LORD” is in capital letters is because they replaced God's name in that instance with “LORD” don't you?EXODUS 34:14
“For you must not prostrate yourself to another god, because Jehovah, whose name is Jealous*, he is a jealous God;”*Lit., “Jealous [is] his name.” Heb., Qan·na’′ shemoh′.
“Jealous” is a word used to describe his name.
“Jehovah” is a personal name used about 7000 times in scripture.July 31, 2010 at 5:31 am#206942davidParticipantQuote Gen 1:27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God chooses to call himself “Father,” not “mother.”
What would you say to that.

As usual you ask to stay in two verses and we get buck shot all over the place.
My comment was referring to the words in Gen 1:2 and 2:4 and the structure of those words…..not looking for a debate on who YHVH is.
DAVidBfun,You might not be looking for a debate on who YHVH is, and you may only want to discuss those 2 scriptures, however, your understanding of those two scriptures you were discussing was based on a false idea, that “Spirit and YHVH are objects “of” Elohim….and cannot be names.“
“I am Jehovah. That is my name;” (Is 42:8)
You say: YHVH cannot be a name.
Scripture says YHVH is his name. It's the most used name in HIS book. HIS name is used more often than all of HIS titles put together. It's used more often than FATHER, Creator, Lord, God, Almighty, etc COMBINED!This is what we would expect about HIS book, that HIS name, our FATHER'S name be mentioned often. And, it is.
So, anyway, this idea that Jehovah (YHVH) cannot be a name is absurd.

In a figurative sense Jehovah spoke of Israel as his wife by reason of his covenant with the nation. (Isa 54:6)
Such language is not uncommon. The apostle Paul speaks of Jehovah as the Father of spirit-begotten Christians, and he speaks of “the Jerusalem above” as their mother, as though Jehovah were married to her for the purpose of bringing forth spirit-begotten Christians. (Ga 4:6, 7, 26) The Christian congregation is spoken of as the bride, or wife, of Jesus Christ.—Eph 5:23, 25; Re 19:7; 21:2, 9.

Hi David,LOOK AT THE UNITY!
God’s Name (יהוה) is written EXACTLY 6823 times in the Hebrew Masoretic Texts. See how
The Gematria Value of Ιησους Χριστоς=2368 Ē-Ā-Soos Chrĭstŏs (Jesus Christ in Greek)
resembles the number of times God’s Name is used in the Hebrew Masoretic Texts.6823 is the 877th prime number in a long list of primes starting with two (2).
Now this might not seem significant until you realize that the number 877
is the 151st prime number. This number 151 shows “Unity” in Spirit.YHVH GOD is One=151 (Deut.6:4 / Eph.4:6)
The LORD JEHOVAH=151 (Isaiah 12:2, 26:4)
LORD of Hosts=151 (AKJV Bible)
Jesus Christ=151 (New Testament)
Holy Spirit=151 (Old & New Testament)Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)
יהוה האלהים (JEHOVAH GOD) YÄ-hä-vā hä ĔL-ō-Hêêm!

Why not translate in like manner and say God's YHVH?
Hi David,
Maybe you have things backwards. Why not ask the opposite question: “Why not translate in like manner and say “the spirit, God” ?If you don't like that “of” being in there, as in the spirit of God, why not translate it as it is: “and the spirit, God, was moving…”
“God is a spirit” after all, as the Bible says.

Hi David,Do you want to approximate truth?
I insist on telling “Bible Truth”=117!“YHVH is GOD”=117
PSALM 117 is [The Bible's Center Chapter], and
the [smallest chapter] of the [LARGEST BOOK]!Witnessing to the world in behalf of YHVH (Psalm 45:17)
117=יהוה האלהים (JEHOVAH GOD) YÄ-hä-vā hä ĔL-ō-Hêêm!

That just means I have to repost them. You know ed, we can discuss this in the KJ thread. I've been posting there too. would that not make more sense?

I now have to repost them, because they are a page back. People often don't read more than a page back. What's bothering is that you've hidden them with this completely unrelated jibber jabber and continue to do so. Please stop talking about unrelated things in this thread.
Thankyou.
