This thread is entertaining and proof that to use Gemetria as a method of interpretation is simply foolish.

As can be seen the numbers can be manipulated to mean many things.

Consider also that the original scrptural text was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek and therefore certain words may be translated with different words yet having the same meaning.

So the variables of possible errors would be astronomical.

If Ed j wanted to be truly honest to the text then he would use the Hebrew and Greek alphabets to create his Bible code.

I suppose this is why ED claims the akjv is the only true translation, yet he himself admits there are errors.

Therefore it is evident that the “Bible Code” that Ed j claims as being true, instead is ludicrous and can only serve to bring confusion!

I think BD has it right on this one…

I agree. The range of possibilities is too large. e.g., if you wanted LORD to add up to another term, you could add THE to LORD and try and then mix and match the other term till you got your desired result.

I think that the gematria in Greek is interesting. Christ, Jesus, Saviour, and Lord are all multiples of 8, with Jesus being 888. If the Antichrist's name adds up to 666 then Jesus being 888 is interesting and has a possible deeper meaning. A small sample, but even these facts can be taken too far as well. Interestingly enough, Dr Panin who discovered this was an agnostic who was curious as to why the Greek word for “the”' in John 1:1 preceded the word “God”' in one case and not the other. In examining the text he became aware of a number relationship.

Anyway, whatever it means, at least the Hebrew and Greek number systems are built into the alphabets just as Latin is, and it is written that we can count the number of the beast (at least). But English has a separate number system and its matrix is therefore whatever you want it to be.

In addition, the KJV has verses that are not even scripture. It uses the Textus Receptus of which there are older manuscripts. The Comma Johanneum in the KJV for example, is not found in any Greek manuscript before the sixteenth century.
