Quote (Nick Hassan @ May 01 2007,18:33) Hi Oxy,
Are you still following new personal spiritual revelations?
It is unsafe.
This may not sit well with you Nick, but I would far rather base my life on my personal relationship with the Lord that my understanding of Scripture. As we both know, Scripture is interpreted differently by different people. But when the Lord tells you something the Holy Spirit gives witness to your spirit and you know the truth.
It is possible to have a relationship with the Lord without the Bible, but it is impossible to understand the Bible without the relationship.
I am not saying that the Bible is not a blessing, and if you view my website you will see that I think the Bible is important enough to put up a daily reading.
What I am saying is that my relationship with the Lord comes first. Without that the Bible would be meaningless for me.
If Jesus said “My sheep know my voice” then why are you so fearful of hearing from Him?

I am glad the bible is still fairly important to you and that the voices are not your only guides.
But it would be better to first know the ways of God before taking the other spirits advice.
The Spirit of God does not speak of His own initiative but takes us back to the words of Christ.
Unless you know scripture you are up the creek without a paddle.May 1, 2007 at 8:42 am#51121OxyParticipantQuote (Nick Hassan @ May 01 2007,20:36) Hi Oxy,

Other spirits?? Why would I listen to other spirits? As for knowing the ways of God, after walking with Him these past 28 years I think I am well on the way, with still some distance to go.
But I do know the Lord's voice and am willing to obey Him even when He tells me something that does not seem to line up with my understanding of Scripture. When I have done this in the past He has always shown me a new understanding of Scripture afterwards.
It is far more important to obey God than it is to obey Scripture simply because Scripture can be misinterpreted. This site is evidence of that.

You say
“It is far more important to obey God than it is to obey Scripture simply because Scripture can be misinterpreted. This site is evidence of that.”
and scripture says in 1Jn 4
“1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.”
So did God or Jesus come in the flesh?June 18, 2007 at 3:37 am#55716NickHassanParticipantHi,
The question posed here can only arise from a false trinity view of God.
Deities are gods as any good dictionary will confirm.
Besides how can one POSSESS deity? - AuthorPosts
