    Hi KW,
The gentiles lived in freedom, but that licentiousness was to cause them to be doomed to perish[rom 2.12]
The Jews were given a law to live by and feared letting go of it's comforts for the sake of faith.
The reborn sons again had freedom but freedom to obey the law of the Spirit.

They too were given a new circumcision of water baptism in the name of Jesus [coll 2.11-13]so there was not command to be circumcised of flesh.

why do you like to add your views to scriptures ,you are not God

Col 2:11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
Col 2:12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
Col 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

were does it say WATER BAPTISM ,in the verses you quoting ????

    answer this why ???

    Pierre,

You are correct if you mean “sinful nature” is the synonym for “old self” as your words appear to infer.

    Marty,

Take a look at Acts 15:5 and you will see that there was a Jewish Pharisee sect among the believers.  Some individuals of that sect, but not all, were teaching the heresy that Gentiles must become Jews.

Both Jews and Gentiles are to obey the command to love but the Law is God’s Legislation for the children of Israel and the land he gave the.  It is equivalent to the  Law that legislatures of Gentiles make; therefore the Jews and the Gentiles both are to obey the authorities God placed over them in obedience to the command to love; even though the authorities for each is different.

The Law, which is the old covenant, is not put in the inward parts of God’s people; nor is it written on their hearts.  Neither are the laws and customs of the Gentiles.  To reject that which is written on your heat and what is placed in your inward parts in favor of the law and customs of either Jews or Gentiles is unrighteous.

    Hi Kerwin:

I am not sure what you are trying to teach me by this discussion.

There is a secular society in both the Jewish nation of Israel, and the gentile nations who legislate laws for their society, and yes, we are to obey these laws if we choose to live in that society as long as we are not asked to do something contrary to the Word of God.

In the Jewish nation of Israel there are those who do not believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and consider themselves to be under the Law of Moses.

As a born again Christian, it is my commission to preach the gospel to every creature whether Jew or gentile.

    Quote
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Gal 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Gal 3:26 ¶ For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Gal 3:29 And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Marty,

Israel and other godless nations make laws today.  Many of those that call themselves Jews because of their decent from Abraham are oath-breakers.  It is for that reason and their unbelief that modern Israel is a godless nation.  For a time that must be for righteousness to be complete.  Still we will obey those laws out of love.

My point is that God declared the Jews to be a special people and a sign unto the Gentiles.  They took an oath to God, as a people, to obey the Law.  Living by the spirit compels them to keep that oath even when they live in a godless nation as oath-breaking is noxious to the Spirit of God.  Since the Gentiles did not take the oath the Spirit has nothing to be noxious about.

    Hi KW,
Paul could not wait to shed his old body in which sin dwelled to put on the new and enjoy freedom.[Rom7]

We must be transformed by renewal of our minds [rom12] by eating the bread of life.[The Word]

We must put aside the old self which is being corrupted in accordance with the LUSTS of DECEIT and be renewed in the Spirit of your MIND and put on the new self which in the likeness of God has been created in holiness and righteousness of the truth. [Eph 4. 23f]

So it means the same as Rom 12.2-the MIND is the stumbling block-let the Teacher renew us from within so that we live differently on the outside [1Jn2.17f].

    Hi KW,
The LUSTS affect the body and the mind.

We must put aside the old self which is being corrupted in accordance with the LUSTS of DECEIT and be renewed in the Spirit of your MIND and put on the new self which in the likeness of God has been created in holiness and righteousness of the truth. [Eph 4. 23f]

Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the LUSTS of the flesh.[Gal 5.16]

Death removes the flesh and it's lusts but our job is to clean out the attic.
The mind is to be renewed according to the teaching Spirit.
