Hi David
So why did Jesus have to die?

Since the bible has been proven to be wrong (except in the mind of the very few), I would say it is not the word of God then.
BTW David, can you chronicle the times I have been wrong? I believe “hundreds” is a steep and exaggerated quite a bit. And define “wrong” — is it when I disagree with you or another person?April 30, 2008 at 2:08 pm#88564StuParticipantQuote (kejonn @ April 30 2008,23:46) He answered it with very long posts. I read the whole lot of it and could only find Paul's “wages of sin” to be relevant. I suppose the bit that starts “As a means for balancing justice and setting matters straight with his people Israel, Jehovah, in the Law covenant, designated various sacrifices and offerings to atone for, or cover, sins” might also be “historically” relevant. The wages of sin is death, so 'Jesus must die' does not exclude Jesus dying of old age. It would seem a more relevant to ask why did Jesus had to be judicially executed?
Christianity required one death for its adherents to enjoy their special status. I am not convinced by David's answer; he paints around the issue in broad brushstrokes and there are so many questions left unanswered. Why is death the only payment option? How do we discount the desparate need to have prophecy fulfilled, come what may?

David,I don't think this is fair. I can vouch for Kevin because I check out what he says with the bible. His view can be seen there (as well as yours and others).

Well, I have been wrong “hundreds of times”, perhaps thousands of times. I'm human after all. Anyone else want to fess up and say they've been wrong many times as well? That way we can separate the perfect from the imperfect.April 30, 2008 at 7:26 pm#88584TimothyVIParticipantI was wrong once. I thought that I had made a mistake, and I hadn't.

And let me just answer you and all of these posts that are coming my way over this discussion with you, go ahead and throw your opinions and accusations my way, I was expectaing this as God has already warned me.
You will probably be those who are passing gifts and being joyful when the two witnesses are killed by the Anti-Christ because they loved you enough to tell you the truth.
You haven't hurt me at all. I know who I am serving. Do you?
It is a common conceit to think we have the spirit of God dwelling in us like that is a unique event not shared by the rest of humanity. It is the nature of sites like this to have back and forth discussion, I see the responses to your posts no different then others here. Perhaps it was not God who warned you of attacks but your own ego.
I don't know who these two witnesses are or which of the various evil men around now that you would label anti-christ, if I did I couldn't stop it anyway. The end could come for any of us at any time so until then I'll dream on like the old Aerosmith song,
“Half my life
is in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and
from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to youSing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away”Lastly who is trying to hurt you? You know who you think your serving that much is apparent. As for me I would like to serve God but admit that it is often my own self I serve as I have much to do yet to overcome my own vanity and pride, I am trying but I am not blind to my own shortcomings.
