I should add that the last part of the statement, “From this we know that the same message is obviously preached to both peoples”, I don't agree. Jesus taught the 'lost sheep of the house of Israel', the gospel of 'the kingdom'. Paul preached to all nations 'the gospel of “Grace”. Two different gospels. The first to Israel, under the “old covenant” of obedience to the 'Law', by Jesus. The second taught by Paul, under the “covenant of the Grace of God”.Blessings.
What is the kingdom of God/heaven?
Hi kerwin.
You ask “what is the kingdom…” A very good question.Under the 'Old Covenant', Gods covenant with Israel, They were promised, if they kept the 'Law', that they would enter the 'promised land', an earthly kingdom, where they would be a nation of 'priests with Christ the King', and rule for a thousand years. But they, Israel, did not do this, they rejected their promised “Messiah”, and had Him crucified. Thus God rejected them, and turned to the 'nations'. God has said that all blessings will come through Isreal, thus the 'gentiles' were blessed through their rejection.
But, as in the book of Hebrews, God will make a 'New Covenant with them (Israel), Heb.8:10-12 (aslo prophesied in Jer.31:31)
10 “For this is the covenant which I shall be covenanting with the house of Israel after those days,” the Lord is saying: “Imparting My laws to their comprehension, On their hearts, also, shall I be inscribing them, And I shall be to them for a God, And they shall be to Me for a people.
11 And by no means should each be teaching his fellow citizen, And each his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord!' For all shall be acquainted with Me, From their little to their great,
12 For I shall be propitious to their injustices, And of their sins and their lawlessnesses should I under no circumstances still be reminded.”
This will be the “thousand year reign” (millenium) spoken of in Revelation, the 'earthly kingdom'.The “Kingdom of God”, I believe, is a heavenly kingdom, that is reserved for the “Body of Christ”, when He (Christ) will call the saints to “meet Him in the air” (1Thes.4:16-17)
16 for the Lord Himself will be descending from heaven with a shout of command, with the voice of the Chief Messenger, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ shall be rising first,
17 Thereupon we, the living who are surviving, shall at the same time be snatched away together with them in clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. And thus shall we always be together with the Lord. After this “rapture”, (a non-biblical term) will be the 'great tribulation', then the return of Christ to earth, when what I described earlier, and the reign of Christ with Israel for a thousand years.
I sort of didn't get this explanation in the correct order, but I think you can sort it out.
Now I would like to say that this is what I believe, but I also would like to say that I may be wrong, I may have gotten things in the incorrect order, or that God may correct me at a later time. I know that “All is of God”, what you believe and what I believe is what God has put in our minds for now, His purpose is to be “All in all” (1Cor.15:28) and I am convinced that He will accomplish what He wills to be.
God Bless, Jerry.

We have certainly veered off topic.January 23, 2010 at 12:25 am#172613chosenoneParticipantQuote (gollamudi @ Jan. 22 2010,16:16) Hi brothers Kerwin and Chosenone,

Hi Adam & Kerwin.
Yes, I have to agree, we did stray way off the thread. I'm not sure whether or not to continue this on another thread, we probably will never agree anyway. What do you think?Blessings, Jerry.

I am thinking of starting a new thread titled the kingdom of God to explore what Scripture means when using the phrase. I believe it actually means different things in different contexts. - AuthorPosts
