T, it does not say that.
It says “If the dead will not be raised, what point is there in people being baptized for those who are dead? Why do it unless the dead will someday rise again?”

if there is no resurrection, why then are people being baptized FOR the dead (already dead without having the chance to be water baptized).

This is my understanding. Yet so many here are saying that water baptism has nothing to do with anything – it only “makes you wet”.

Is that truth? Or is scripture truth?

Do each and every one of you believe that you are without sin and so do not “need” to be baptized in water?

    Well, I believe the scriptures.

    2Besee.

Paul is not saying that it is necessary to babtise the dead, but they are obviously doing it.
We dont babtise for the dead as far as I know.

Babtism with water does not cleans away sin.
That would be nice;sin first, and then have a good shower, or a swim.

    Was Judas iscariot babtised. Y/N?

If yes then what good was it for him?
I know that he was not babtised with the Holy spirit.

Many in the early church, have fallen away also after being babtised.Titus1:10.

Many babtised christians will be cast away by Christ when he will says; go away I dont know you.

    Hi 2Besee,

1 Cor 15:29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

Do you think Jesus is talking about water baptism?
Matt 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men,
him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

People that are baptized are making public their belief of Jesus atoning sacrifice.
We are all asked to make our belief in Jesus atoning sacrifice public.

    “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and  (water baptism) with the mouthconfession is made  unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” (Romans 10:10-11)

    Hi Ed,
    I disagree.

Being baptized in water is not necessarily “making public ones belief….” because many people have been baptized even alone (The main man of the Anabaptists baptized himself if I remember correctly (don't quote me on that)).

No, I was talking about Baptism in water.
Confession with the 'mouth' is something else.

Does every single person that you know “know” that you are a follower of Jesus? If so, then that is (part of) “confession with the mouth” and you also have to be a good 'role model' to begin with.

Baptism with the Holy Spirit is not a guarantee of salvation according to the scriptures. Hebrews 6:4 says:

“It is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. 7 For land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. 8 But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.”
