This is where you have misunderstood why the dove was shown.
John said to Jesus: I should not baptise you.
Jesus said: let it be this time.

John 1:32 *And John bare record*, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

This is proof(for the record), to John that he is the son of God.The record is for us.
Jesus could not preach in his younger years without the holy spirit. No one can.
