Hi Nick,
Hi Nick,
You wrote:
‘ Paul dies daily to his human heart and spirit within his mind.’
Scripture does not say the human heart and spirit is in the mind. You do.
‘If any man wants to be my disciple let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.’
’I must decrease. He must increase’
Me: Scripture shows that the spirit is in the mind and heart of man.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;…23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
In the end, there is only one spirit. And that spirit is in our minds.
Young’s Literal Translation
Romans 8:6 for the mind of the flesh is death, and the mind of the Spirit — life and peace…27 and He who is searching the hearts (Heb 4:12)—Christ) hath known what is the mind of the Spirit, because according to God he doth intercede for saints.Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Me: Those that have been born of the spirit have two minds, their old fleshly mind and their new spirit mind. They have two spirits, the spirit of their old man and the holy spirit in their spirit minds. Those not born of the spirit are spiritually dead (Matt 8:22, Luke 9:6). They have neither a spirit mind nor the holy spirit in them.
Luke 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows
Luke 21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
1 Cor 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain (seed), it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain (G 2848: seed):

Luke 12:7 and Luke 21:18 say our whole bodies shall be preserved. But 1 Cr 15:36 say our old bodies die.

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are (3928: passing) away; behold, all things are (G 1096: becoming) new.
Me:
Therefore our new bodies and minds are holy images of our old bodies and minds. We are to be made in the spiritual image of God. That image is the resurrected and glorified Christ (Col 1:15).
The mind of the spirit has the holy spirit in it. Likewise, the mind of the flesh has the spirit of the flesh in it. There are two minds and two spirits among in each brethren.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh (sets its desire) against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Me:
We can follow the spirit or we can follow the flesh. How can we often follow the flesh and sin if we have crucified the flesh? Non Christians do not have this option. Whenever we follow the spirit we have crucified the flesh. We become more and more like Christ and less and less like our old man. Our human spirits are still in our human minds. It is this spirit that keeps the flesh alive.
John 3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Col 3:2 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God,

Eph 4:4 (YLT) and to put on the new man (mind of Christ), which, according to God, was created in righteousness and kindness of the truth.
A new heart and a new spirit will I put in you.
Job 34:14-15…If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; (All) flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
John 6:63 … the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God…16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are
Heb 4:12 for the reckoning of God is living, and working, and sharp above every two-edged sword, and piercing unto the dividing asunder both of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart; the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit (holy spirit) itself beareth witness with our spirit (flesh), that we are the children of God:
Me: We have crucified the fleshly mind, do not follow it. We cannot sin in our spirit minds.

There is nothing automatic about the transformation of the heart and mind in those who are reborn of the Spirit.
The land of Canaan was given to the Israelites but they had to fight for every square inch.
So too with the rebellious mind of man which imagines it knows stuff.
Only daily submission to the Word can enable the light.
Those who are led by the Spirit are the sons of God, but many are stillborn.

Peace and love to you and yours. …..gene
