Quote (942767 @ Jan. 28 2013,10:48) God does not control anyone. You have the freedom to come to Him and learn to obey Him if you want to live in His house forever, but if you don't want to live in his house, obviously, he has given you a choice: Quote John 834 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed

No need to shout, 90210!You might have forgotten to include the consequences of making the 'wrong choice'. 'The son', little sweet baby Jesus, brought with him sulfur and fire for those who made the wrong “choice”. This is compulsory love on pain of punishment, a house that no one should live in.

Charity, that is a profound and true statement. The sad fact it seems, is that neither one of these can be limited by the people whose lives they control.
All governments eventually become too powerful for the people to limit, and the people simply won't allow their God to be limited, because then it is not God.

On the last page I posted a couple of responses to your post which you have not responded to yet.Quite the opposite from “controlling” Man, God gave man dominion we are the ones who have made such a mess of things. Why is it your so compelled to blame God?

Hi Stu:Shouting, hoping that you will hear. There is no need for anyone to have to be destroyed unless that is what they want.
I have seen that you are a very intelligent person, but it would be a foolish decision to reject God's love for you, and to suffer the consequences of that decision.

I'm not going to have that, sorry. I don't know why anyone would even wish christianity to be true, but if it were true then I can't see how there is a choice. The only moral thing to do is stand up to this bully that threatens you with burning sulfur if you don't love it.If your rejection of compulsory love on pain of punishment means that the bully destroys you, then it is only the destruction option that has any dignity or moral integrity in it. Either you fight the fascist totalitarian dictators and win, or you die in the struggle to be free of oppression. Collaboration with this evil isn't right.
Of course if you love dictators that abuse human rights, then you don't need to follow the Judeo-christian, you could move to North Korea and have that same experience in “this life” (the only life you can claim to know you have, in my opinion).

“How do you know you are blessed?”
That's a valid question that cannot be all that easily answered.I believe in my life, the first awareness I can remember of being blessed
was in the feed store that Pat and I bought as a result of a direct communication from God.
Fearful and yet raring to go, we made the purchase and worked and waited,
excited to see what was going to happen.
The customers came and so did a blizzard.
How many of you remember the blizzard of 1977-78?
With that blizzard came sale upon sale of bird seed.
We were six months into owning the store and suddenly, all fear was gone.
We were making money and making new customers
and we just shook our heads at the blessings we were experiencing. So this man sincerely believes that God blessed him and his wife by sending a blizzard that killed 22 people, and caused billions of dollars in damages, so that they could sell a bunch of bird seed.
I can't believe it, I just can't believe it.

I haven't read it, but judging from your comment, maybe he was saying that out of a tragedy something good came and that is a sign of a blessing. Not that the tragedy was a blessing.
I guess you could say that tragedies happen to believers and non-believers alike. But we can still be blessed even in the midst of a tragedy.

Presumably you believe your god has ultimate control over whether blizzards strike and take lives, so therefore your god must send both blessings and tragedies.Would you classify this event as a blessing sent by your god, or a tragedy? Or is it both, or neither? Or is it that your god made an investment in wind technology from which some people reaped the profits he expected and others failed and were killed because of their failure to follow it's commands?
Which of these ridiculous options do you choose, t8? It must be one or other of ONLY these from which you choose.

Hi Stu:When you live in a society, you are governed by the laws of that society. If you break the law, and you are caught, then you have to go to court and the judge renders the penalty that you deserve according to the offense.
We are living in God's house, and His law are the Ten Commandments. If you have transgressed any of these laws, then you deserve the penalty prescribed by the judge of the whole world, and that penalty is death.
But God has, in the person of Jesus Christ, paid the penalty due each us by the punishment inflicted in His body and His death on the cross. It is God's body that took all the punishment for the sins of the whole world.
And so, if anyone desires mercy, it is there for the asking. All one has to do is ask for forgiveness with a repentant heart, and indicate by confessing Jesus a your Lord that you will strive to obey God's Law, and you will live in God's house forever.
Jesus stated that when we have seen him through the works of obedience that He did to God His Father we have seen God's character manifest through his life.
And so, this is the bully that you want to stand up to?[
But if you do not want to accept the mercy being offered to you, then you are saying that you want to go before the court and let the judge decide what penalty you should pay for having broken the laws of the society in which you live, God's house. And you are saying that you do not want to continue to live in God's house. And you are free to make that decision, but You will give an account to God for the life that you lived during the time that you were in His house. You will be judged according to your works.
Jesus is the judge said the following relative to judgement:
Quote Jhn 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. Jhn 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

This is not time for us to just lay down and listen to the dictator telling us what rules he likes to terrorise us with; it's time to overthrow the dictator, like was done with all the 20th Century dictators that abused human rights and oppressed people. We don't ask the monsters what their rules are and just take it, in a democracy we tell the representatives how we want things to be. Why are you lying down and taking the story of a god that got angry and killed Uzzah when he was only trying to help; killed for “disobeying” a command? Do you give humans curiosity then tell them not to eat fruit that represents a natural quest for knowledge, then punish them for exercising that curiosity? There is no evidence of a just god in these ancient Jewish fables, it is a patently and obviously unjust god. And it only gets worse in the NT.
You might be another interesting example of a christian who at first appears to have developed his ethical thinking to an understanding of the supremacy of laws for the way they can make a society work socially, even though you have not quite got to the point where you can question a bad law, but actually you really are at the infantile stage where you focus your moral thinking on what consequences are likely for you personally, essentially avoiding punishment.
I'd restate my former claim that, if your celestial fantasy conspiracy religion is true, the only morally defensible thing to do is to be judged and punished with burning sulfur. Better that than to be said to have been a collaborator with a fascist dictator and abuser of human rights.
Don't you think?

Hi there Charity:Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. It does not have to be filtered. Either you believe the Word or not. I have given it in simplicity in my answer to Stu.
There are those who proclaimed to be Christians, who did not follow in the example set by the life of the Lord Jesus who by the false doctrine caused the confusion which has invaded the world, and is causing some to be deceived.
To be a Christian is to confess Jesus as Lord, and to stirive to obey His commandments.
Quote 1Jo 3:16 ¶ Hereby perceive we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren. 1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jo 3:10 ¶ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Also, forgiveness is not a misconception, but is a reality, and when God forgives, there is true liberty.
And yes, God uses doctors to accomplish healing in the live of a Christian, but He also still heals some miraculously.

Rev 19:12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Rev 19:13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Rev 19:14 And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Rev 19:16 And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 19:17 ¶ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
Rev 19:18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all [men, both] free and bond, both small and great.
Rev 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

If your god's word is true then it is a supreme hypocrite. As for me commenting on your quotes from the fabulously insane book of Revelation, there is no need. It speaks all the selfishness and paranoia of christianity more loudly than any font size you could summons.
Let me know if you would like to work for human rights as a principle, and against this abominable list of things that some human primates would like to happen to other human primates.
