Hi J42,
You say
“So be ready at all times, and don't let him catch you at a time when you are;
1. Not putting God first
2. Denying his preserved Word.
3. Having no truth in you, but full or errors
5. Trampling on his pearls
6. Disobedient
7. Accusing his servants
8. Having no fruits of the spirit.
9. Being stuck in muddy waters
10. Naked. No truth, no covering. No knowledge. No preparation whatsoever for what is to come
11. Hindering the truth
12. Self righteous / proud”Those who want to save their own life will lose it.
The yoke is easy and the burden light

The thief in the night story is not about the day of the coming, but when death takes us….it can be anytime…..for when we awake, he is right there, whether it be the harvest, or judgement day, he will come at an hour we are not expecting…. Have you really tested this doctrine of yours against Scripture?
Kerwin.I dont understand the way you control your thinking.
If one died today;will he not face the Lord that same day?
According to his time zone?
And that means zero time. What is there to proof?
You should know that; to the dead there is no time.wakeup.

This is the covering we seek, not knowledge2Cor5
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Hi NickSo what exactly is your question?
Are you saying this is a heavy burden?
to lose ones own life, in order to save it?
or the rest of the points are burdensome?
I could of put down 100 more things there, from the scriptures, and none of them would be a burden to keep for the Lord, but a joy. These are guidelines for us, so we can be a separate people.

Death comes as a thief it the night to some and to others it announces its coming long before it comes.
It is true that it is for all of us to live once and then be subject to judgement. But to say that is what Jesus meant when he spoke about that which comes like a thief in the night is a questionable doctrine. Never the less be prepared for that thief at all times even when he does not come because if you die first you will be subject judgement.
Watch your doctrine and your lives.

Kerwin.Do you know what jesus said two thousand years ago:
He said ,the kingdom of God is at hand.
wakeup.
May 10, 2014 at 12:04 am#381532kerwinParticipantWakeup,
The kingdom of God is at hand and even before Jesus chose to sacrifice himself and so sign the new covenant with his blood people were forcing themselves into it. A time will come when it it fully mature and the fishermen will pull it in. At that time the good fish will be gathered and the bad will tossed in the garbage dump.
Strive to be a good fish and not one that is disposed.

James 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.James 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
James 3:3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
James 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
James 3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
James 3:12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
James 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
James 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
James 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Yes the saved must produce works of righteousness.
But first all must seek the kingdom.Their own righteousness is as filthy rags
