Tanis was once the capital city of ancient Egypt. Today, it is an important archaeological site that has been laid to waste. The site is located in the Nile Delta the river where baby Moses was found by the Pharaoh’s daughter. See Exodus 2.
This ancient city was the capital during the 21st and 22nd dynasties. The Old Testament actually references the city as Zoan, so does the bible say anything about the city’s demise? Yes it does.
Ezekiel 30:13
This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “I will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in Memphis. No longer will there be a prince in Egypt, and I will spread fear throughout the land”.
I will lay waste Pathros, set fire to Zoan, and execute judgment on Thebes.…
This is another example of a given prophecy in the bible that has come to pass.
