Seven Gentile Empires

The Beast

The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.

The Beast of Revelation represents seven empires that ruled in succession in the area around the Great Sea, the Mediterranean. These seven empires are a historical fact that fits perfectly with the Beast of Revelation and what it means. From our view in history, we can see that the seven empires were:

Egypt – 3100 to 677 BC (Genesis 12:10)
Assyria – 677 to 626 BC (Genesis 2:14)
Babylon – 626 – 539 BC (Daniel 1:1)
Medo-Persia – 539 – 449 BC (Daniel 5:28)
Greecia – 449 – 146 BC (Daniel 10:20)
Rome – 146 BC-476 AD eastern leg / 1453 AD western leg or Byzantium (Daniel 9:26 & Romans 1-7)
Ottoman – 1453 – 1924 AD (Future empire when Revelation was written, but historical empire today)

Notice that this Beast is no more today in 2021. The reign of empires ended at the conclusion of WWI when the Ottoman army fought alongside Germany and Austria-Hungary. They were defeated in October 1918. If the Ottoman Empire was the last empire or the seventh head of the beast, then it partially fits with the following verse.

And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.”

For it to fully fit though, an eighth king or kingdom which comes from the seventh would need to arise in the future. That could be another Islamic Caliphate especially considering the seventh in this view was an Islamic caliphate. Further, given the spread of Islam which dominates this part of the world (around the Great Sea) and which has recently infiltrated Western Europe, it seems that an Islamic Caliphate would be the most likely empire to rise from this region. Forget America, China, India, Australia, etc. These are not located around the Great Sea. These empires and countries are not part of the Beast with seven heads and 10 horns.

Revelation 17:8
The beast, which you saw, once was, now is not, and yet will come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction.,

Revelation 17:11:
The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Daniel 7:1-3
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream. Daniel said: “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea. Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out of the sea.

Revelation 13:1
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.”

It is also possible that the eighth king / kingdom to come could be from the seven heads (not seventh head). This would mean it is comprised of all empires that came out of the Great Sea previously. Now look at the next verse.

You saw the iron mixed with clay–the peoples will mix with one another but will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with fired clay.

Regarding the iron mixed with clay, it is worth noting that the word for ‘clay’ in Aramaic is ‘arab’. After the two legs of iron in the statue (Rome) , we see the toes are mixed with iron and clay. In other words it appears that two peoples will live side by side but their seed will not mingle. And indeed we see this with the break up of the Roman Empire and the Ottoman invasions. The invaders (Arabs) mixed with the iron (Romans) but never became one people.

Of the seven empires in the Book of Revelation, Daniel addressed four and perhaps a fifth with the mixture of iron and clay. His revelation was focussed around his time however and not as wide in scope as the Book of Revelation.

    Good point Berean.

It says the Lord’s Day and then talks about the seven churches of that time period.

The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.” Revelation 1:20.

In the first chapter Jesus starts talking about the Seven Churches and tells John to send the messages to them. Now there were more than seven churches in John’s day, so we know that the number and the names of these churches have a prophetic meaning. Seven in Bible numbers means complete or perfect. The seven churches represent all of God’s people; both back then and also down through the ages to the end of time.

It is important to understand that some of the Greek words that John originally used to tell us about what Jesus showed him, are a bit different than we see them translated into English. The word used for ‘churches’ meant congregations or groups of believers; and the word ‘angels’ means ‘messengers’.

In each period in history, God’s true people had a special ‘message’ that was Present Truth for their day, and Jesus showed us that all who carry that message for their time, are carefully held in His hand. He watches them with love. He ‘walks among the seven candlesticks’; this means He is always with His true people, guiding and teaching them.
These ‘churches’ stand for different periods in history, but the lessons in the messages to them, also have instruction for God’s children in all times, especially today.

“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. . Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ’s church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church.”

So you are not for scientific value?

The word ‘soon’ is not a scientific measurement for the reasons I stated.

To all…….The word soon always put that person into that moment, near in time, which it is taking place.  Common sense 101.

John was given futuristic visions of things takings place at their proper time periods,  he was not speaking about the time he was given those visions , he was not saying they were all taking place at the very time he was given those prophesies ,  except about the existing seven churches in Asia. After that,  he was taken up in heaven and shown things that were going to take place in the future.

The time point of Rev 17, starts to takes place after the thousand year reign of Jesus and the Saint’s on this earth, to the return of God the Father to this earth.   The mind that has wisdom is the mind that gets these time periods right, all others here have not done that yet, So it is impossible for you to even to begin to understand it correctly yet. You trying to jam everything in before they happen, that is why you can’t understand John was in the fourth Babylonian kingdom period when he was given the book of revelations and the fifth kingdom of Iron and clay had not even come yet , which we are in at this point in time, then after this kingdom, will come another kingdom, the sixth kingdom to come on this earth, the kingdom of Jesus Christ  and the Saint’s. And at the end of a thousand years , will come the Seventh and Eighth kingdom periods at the return of God the Father to this earth.  That is the time period John was talking from in Rev  17,  not the time before the return of Jesus to this earth as most false prophets believe,  no, the battle of Armageddon takes place at the very end when God the Father returns , not when Jesus comes.

Go read what Jesus said was to be taking place at his return , nothing of what Rev 17 says is going to take place at the time of Jesus’ return.  When Jesus returns it will be a “Celestial Event”, which will cause this earth to wobble through its orbit as the powers of the heavens (gravitational pulls between planets and the sun) shall be shaken,  and produce “Giant Tsunami” waves according to his words, that’s what will take place just before he returns to this earth.  What he described as his return , is nothing like what the return of the one mentioned  in Rev 17 , describes at all.  The return that takes place in Rev 17, is the return of God the Father to this earth.

…..then after this kingdom, will come another kingdom, the sixth kingdom to come on this earth, the kingdom of Jesus Christ  and the Saint’s.

Ok, ….BUT IT WILL LAST MORE THAN A THOUSAND YEARS

    Daniel 2 is clear.

And whereas you sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

    👇
[44] And in the days of these kings

    THESE KINGS👉IRON AND CLAY

    👇

shall the God of heaven set up ONE KINGDOM, WHICH SHALL NEVER BE DESTROYED:

and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms,

and it shall STAND FOR EVER.

DO YOU SEE THIS GENE …?

TO KINGDOM, WHICH SHALL NEVER BE DESTROYED: ….
….. and it shall STAND FOR EVER.

Are you so small, minded that you seriously believe Satan rules ONE PLACE? That whatever happens only occurs in ONE PLACE?

The kingdom of God v the kingdom  of MAN… Um, it involves the whole world (?) The Tares and the Wheat. It involves New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Iran, India, China, USA, Russia.  You have the image of the beast ‘in front of you’ (on your latptop, phone, TV). Time to wake up 🙂 (That’s all I have to say).

Miia….. yes the whole world is under Satans Babylonian type of Kingdoms, it has been since the time of Nebuchadnezzar,  to this very day.  It’s a “USERY ” SYSTEM OF RULE, and we all are living in it, and have been since we all were born.

Berean…….when Satan is cast into the bottomless pit, at the beginning of Sixth kingdom of Jesus Christ and the Saint’s,  this earth will no longer have Satanic influence in it,   Then will be established the kingdom of  Jesus Christ, and at the end of a thousand years,  Satan will released from the bottomless pit where he was kept for a thousand years, and will go out into this world to deceive the nations again,  setting up  a  seventh kingdom, a Babylonian type kingdom on this earth,  the deadly wound inflicted on the Fifth Babylonian type kingdom we be healed and it will rise again as the Seventh kingdom, and from that kingdom shall came the Eighth  kingdom ,  the Eighth Kingdom to rise up will be a kingdom that contains ten kings who are completely under the control of Satan himself and they Will completely destroy the Seventh kingdom which will be another  Babylonian type kingdom on this earth, which has ( “worn out the Saint’s of the most high”) .   The Saint’s with  Jesus retreat back to Jerusalem,  and after Satan and the ten kings have completely destroyed the Seventh Babylonian type kingdom , (“because God has put into their minds to”) , they will go after Jesus and the Saint’s at Jerusalem, and then God the Father sends fire down (the battle of Armageddon), from heaven and destroys the Eight kingdom and Satan is cast in the lake of fire, and goes into perdition.  Then that leaves only the Sixth kingdom of Jesus and the Saint’s left.

God the Father returns to this earth and Jesus turns over his kingdom to him and becomes subject to it himself just as all the earth does .   End of story.  Hope that helps you .

The thousand years are the beginning of the Kingdom of God and of CHRIST,

after that Satan is released ((Rev.20), the wicked are resurrected (Gog and Magog),

God gives account of his judgment to the wicked which took place in heaven for the thousand years (Rev. 20)

they are gathered by Satan to try to destroy the saints gathered in the holy heavenly city which came down from heaven (with God, Christ and the saints)
But God intervenes with fire from heaven and the lake of fire and brimstone.
    (I summarized very succinctly)
AFTER THIS EARTH AND HEAVEN ARE RENEWED AND ETERNAL LIFE FOR ALL SAINTS.

Let us be spiritually ready for the very imminent return of Jesus Christ as King of kings.

Are you so small, minded that you seriously believe Satan rules ONE PLACE? That whatever happens only occurs in ONE PLACE?

“To the angel of the church in Pergamum write:……. I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name.

The geographical location for Pergamum is Turkey where the capital of the Ottoman Empire was located. The Roman capital was in Turkey too.

Further, the dragon was waiting for the child to be born to devour him. He was born in the Middle East. Israel was not Satan’s country. His throne was nearby though. Think of Israel then think why the beast is located in this area. It is anout rulership of the region where God has his chosen country.

Finally, the other beasts, heads, mountains were kingdoms located around The Great Sea, The Medditerraean. Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome. And yet, there existed other countries and nations outside of them like China, Indonesia, First Nations of America, and the Australian nations, etc.

So your argument cannot be valid because it doesn’t work with what we already know about the beast and the locations of these sucessive empires.

Berean……. I was referring to Danial 2 not Daniel 7.   There are only six kingdoms mentioned there in Daniel 2, Five are Babylonian type kingdoms under Satans control,  the Sixth is the kingdom  of Jesus Christ and the Saint’s , it is not part of the Babylonian type kingdoms.
If you don’t move and pick up the rise of Seventh and Eighth kingdom’s, to Rev 17,   You will never ever understand  the correct, time line no matter how long and hard you try.  I will guarantee you that.

Gene, I completely agree. Worldwide Babylonian rule.

Proclaimer, Yes. Satan has a throne somewhere from which he rules the tares from.

God has his throne in heaven from where he rules the wheat.

    It is worldwide.

The Beast is a specific location. It is about empires. Satan is the god of this world yes, but the beast is not the planet. I can prove it with one verse alone. But without quoting it, just read the rest of Daniel because it identifies 3 of the 4 beasts. Consequently, Revelation rolls these beasts into one huge beast. So that alone is a strong clue that it is not the whole world.

Think about it. God tells us to not love the world because love of the world and love of God cannot be found in the same person. So why do we have a another word called beast for the same thing? We don’t. Beasts are empires. Empires have borders. Yes Satan may have his throne here or there, but empires can effect the whole planet despite not actually being the whole planet. I mean, America effects the whole world. I would also say that China does too.

In conclusion, the beast and the whole world or earth are different words with different meanings.
