Upon this rock, Jesus Christ built his Church

Balancing Rock Girraween

For many Christian denominations, the foundation of their faith is usually a version of the Trinity Doctrine in some form. But is this doctrine really the true foundation of the Church? Let’s take a look at the actual foundation that Jesus Christ built his Church on.

Matthew 16:13-18
13 Jesus came into the country of Caesarea Philippi. He asked His followers, “Who do people say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
14 They said, “Some say You are John the Baptist and some say Elijah and others say Jeremiah or one of the early preachers.”

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of Jonah, you are happy because you did not learn this from man. My Father in heaven has shown you this.
18 “And I tell you that you are Peter. On this rock I will build My church. The powers of hell will not be able to have power over My church.

Read the above clearly. Jesus did not build his Church on Peter. He built it on the truth that Peter spoke concerning the true identity of Jesus Christ. And what was that truth? That Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ.

Peter did not say that Jesus was God or one member of a triune God, yet that is the foundation for many. So what is it that tries to fight against the true foundation? Is it not the Gates of Hell that is trying to prevail against this truth. But for what benefit is there to attack the true foundation of the Church, which is the Body of Christ?

Here is the thing. Roman Catholics believe that the foundation was Peter and this is where their line of Popes supposedly comes from. They also believe that the foundation of their faith is the Trinity Doctrine. Not only are they wrong, but their fruit over the centuries proves that this tree was not good.

So which is it? The Catholic faith or the true faith?

Many do not realise that they side with the Catholic faith. However, it is true that this faith and foundation cannot sustain eternally any work built upon her.

For they labour in vain those who build on another foundation.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 8:6: for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

He also wrote in Ephesians 4:5-6: one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

And Jesus said it so clearly in John 17:3: Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Are you willing to believe the truth about who God is and who Jesus is over any contrary tradition that was passed down to you?

While in the flesh, he never sinned Nick. That is what I a mean. He sinned not while in the flesh. In fact he never sinned before or after that. Sure he became sin for our sake, but he knew no sin himself.

    2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

    1 Peter 2:22
He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.

    Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

    1 John 3:5
You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.

    1 Peter 1:19
But with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.

    Hi t8,

So another traditional teaching bites the dust.

    Christmas is popular one.

    Yes, Jesus was without sin.

You can start a topic about Christmas if there isn’t one already.

Put it in ‘Truth and Tradition’ I would say.

    Hi t8,

Do you agree with him that he was an overcomer?

We can enjoy the benefits of his victory over sin without being too successful ourselves.

Nick, please stay on topic. This doesn’t seem to be on topic whatever it is you are getting at.

    Thank you.

    Hi t8,

Yes listening to the Spirit as Peter did is the priority for all who claim to be in the Church.

If you do not have the Spirit of Christ you are none of his.

    Hi ,

Jesus rejoiced that Peter had become like him, in touch with his Father and able to hear the Spirit.

That is the plan for everyone.

    Hi,

Those that have ears that hear will also hear the Spirit in the scriptures.

T8…WHAT NICK HAS SAID IS TRUE. GOD THE FATHERS “REAVEALING POWER”, IS THE “ROCK”, THAT JESUS BUILDES THE CHURCH ON, AND HE UNDERSTOOD THAT PETER HAD THAT REAVELING KNOWLEDGE FROM GOD THE FATHER IN HIM, THE SAME AS HE HAD, that is why Jesus said, “and i say “ALSO” unto you “Simon Barjona”, that you are “PETER”, THE “ALSO” meant Jesus had that same reavealing knowledge ABOUT Peter, that Peter had about him.

T8, go back and reread it, with that in mind, and you should clearly see it brother. If you have the spirit of truth abiding in you, it should show this to you clearly, IMO.

Peace and love to you and yours….gene

    True.

    Hi,

True. And they won’t draw opposite conclusions to what the scripture says. Having the Spirit of God means you will be in agreement to the scriptures and messages of God. Not against them.

GOD THE FATHERS “REAVEALING POWER”, IS THE “ROCK”, THAT JESUS BUILDES THE CHURCH ON

You have already changed your mind at least once. You originally was saying that the Rock was God. But I pointed out that it doesn’t say THE Rock, but THIS Rock.

So now you have changed it to the ‘revealing power’ of God. Are you going to settle with that, or perhaps change the view again. Good to be open to change, I agree. But are there anymore changes in the pipeline? Possible or not?

T8…..The power of God to reaveal into our minds the truth about JESUS AND OTHER THINGS, IS THE POWER THAT JESUS USES TO BUILD THE CHURCH ON, IT’S STILL God the Father doing it. HOW DO YOU SEPERATE GOD FRON HIS SPIRITUAL POWERS. JESUS said that God was spirit, and you believe his power is seperate thing then he is. GOD THE FATHER HIMSELF IS THE ONLY ROCK THERE IS, There is NO OTHER ROCK ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES I HAVE QUOTED HERE ALREADY.

YOUR WORDS ARE AGAINST THOSE SCRIPTURES, why are you trying so hard to devide what i have written, hunting for straws T8, TO HINDER THE TRUTH? WHY CAN’T YOU JUST SIMPLY AGREE WITH THE TRUTH, WOULD BE MY QUESTION TO YOU?

peace and love to you and yours. …….gene

T8….I know you do not realize it but you are doing eactly what you accuse us of. You seening this just like Satan wants you to, the way most all Christendom sees it.

    Hi Gene,

Do you believe satan exists? …because you didn’t use to

    Hi,

For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

So speaks the Spirit for those with ears that hear.

So you have changed your mind from God to the power of God.

HOW DO YOU SEPERATE GOD FRON HIS SPIRITUAL POWERS.

One is of God, the other is God.

If there is no difference to you, then you would also accept that Jesus being the son of God and the messiah as that rock because that is the truth of God.

    Hi t8,

You may find all sorts of rocks of truth in scripture.

But being true to the context it is hearing the Spirit that Jesus called the rock the church was to be built on.

And that is why it is true that if you do not have the Spirit of Christ you are none of his.

At least we can agree that it was not God himself that was being referred to in that context. Even Gene changed his mind which is good in the sense that he can change his mind. And Nick agreed with Gene in the end, as well as Lightenup on another matter. It may or may not be right, but in the least, some are in agreement.

God may be THE Rock, but was not THIS rock.

I think further debate on this will not accomplish much. We have all been given the information, and our shared our opinions, so what we draw from that is up to us.

Unless of course someone has something new to add that we may benefit from.

Otherwise we will just be repeating our conclusions for the rest of our days.

Like I said, further evidence would be good and look forward to it if you have it.

T8…..GOD IS THE “ROCK” THAT THE TRUE CHURCH IS BUILT ON, YOU CANNOT SEPERATE GOD FRON HIS POWER, IT’S ALL ABOUT “ONE GOD” HIS POWER AND HIM ARE ONE AND THE SAME THING. YOU MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN WHAT JESUS SAID, ” NO MAN “CAN”COME UNTO ME UNLESS THE FATHER “DRAW” HIM”, THAT IS SAYING IT IS GOD THE FATHER “AND” HIS POWER, THAT BUILDES THE CHURCH, HOW DO YOU SEPERATE GOD THE FATHER FROM HIS POWERS?

AGAIN WE HAVE BEEN PEOVEN RIGHT BY SCRIPTURES, and I have not changed my mind one bit concerning this topic, i will stand by it, even though you try to say i have changed , i maintain as i always have that itis God the Father Who “IS” the “ROCK” that JESUS uses to build his church on. You dicing scripture up to try to save face won’t work here brother. IMO

peace and love to you and yours. ……gene
