I sense you are baffled by this spiritual language and how it seems to contradict commonsense and logic.
Allow God to make the rules and express Himself however He wants to.

It does not mean that the Word was another god.
It does not mean that the Word was separate from God.
It does not even mean that the Word was another spirit being.

It is just different…
