Billionaire Elon Musk has made the headlines a lot lately with his purchase of Twitter. His reason for the transaction is to change the microblogging app into a free speech platform for the good of humanity. Why? In his own words, it is because Twitter is the digital town square and this is important to civilisation.

So is Musk serious about preserving free speech? When we look at his history we see Musk’s other businesses making money, but they also exist to solve big problems. Let’s take a look at his top three businesses.
- Tesla – Electric cars to help stop pollution.
- SpaceX – To turn mankind into an interplanetary species to ensure our survival. To also provide Internet to the world including the poor who live in hard to reach places. Recently he gave Ukaranians free Internet access during the Ukrainian invasion for example.
- The Boring Company – To create low cost transportation and infrastructure to help transform cities.
These are the top three companies he owns excluding Twitter and clearly they do provide solutions to big problems. So it does look like he is shelling out 44 billion dollars to help preserve free speech. After all, it has been nothing but bad news for Conservatives and Christians on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Such are often banned, shadow banned, and censored. Recently, The Babylon Bee’s Twitter account was suspended. Before that, we saw the likes of Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Mike Lindell, and even President Trump being banned.
This behavior seems like business suicide because having people on both sides of a debate makes it interesting. If you ban all who have a different opinion, you are then left with a boring echo chamber that is sterile and lacking diversity and challenges
So what makes Elon Musk tick? What are his core beliefs? Why does he want to do good and preserve free speech? Is he on a mission for God?
