Here is a list of scriptures that most Christians do NOT believe.

Are you ready to be challenged? You may think you agree with all scripture. But what about these?

    John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

If you believe that Jesus is God, then Jesus disagrees with you. He inferred that the only true God was the Father because he said that the only true God sent Jesus and we know from scripture it was the Father that sent his son into the world. Clearly, Jesus is the son of God and he said that the only true God was the Father. Do you believe him, or does he oppose your doctrine?

    Matthew 16:15-18
15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Jesus built his Church on Peter’s confession as to who Jesus said he was. But most Christians go to a Church whose foundational doctrine and creed is the Trinity which teaches that God is made of 3 persons, and Jesus is one of the persons of God and is also fully God. But the Church that Jesus builds is based on the truth that Jesus is the son of God and the messiah. Those who deny this are antichrist as well according to scripture. So which Church do you belong. The one that was built by Jesus and has its foundation as the truth that Jesus is the son of God and the messiah, or do you belong to another Church, one built by man and whose doctrine is that Jesus is God? If not the former, then you do not believe many scriptures.

    1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God; ….

    1 Timothy 1:17
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.
    Amen.

    1 Timothy 6:15-16
15 which God will bring about in his own time, God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

If you believe that Jesus Christ is God, then you disagree with the three scriptures above. The truth is that God is invisible and no man has actually seen him, yet many have seen Jesus Christ. Of course if the Father is the only true God as Jesus taught us, then yes we know that God is invisible because the Father is the invisible God. Paul taught us that Jesus is the image of the invisible God and the first born of all creation, thus Jesus is not the invisible God mentioned in the Bible. Believing that Jesus is God himself, denies these scriptures and truths because God is not an image and he is not visible. So if you believe that Jesus is God himself, then you disagree with Paul and John when they said that God is invisible and no man can see him..

    John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I can almost hear you saying, “Your kidding, right. this is the most quoted bible verse ever, so how exactly do most Christians not believe it”.

Well John 3:16 says that the righteous will inherit eternal life. I know that most if not all Christians would believe that. It is the first part that they don’t really believe, the part that says the wicked will perish. Perish means that they will be destroyed which means that they won’t have life. Let me explain further. Most Christians actually believe that the wicked get eternal life too, only that their eternal life is spent in Hell, while the Christians will be in Heaven. So their view is that the wicked also get eternal life, but in a different place. Scripture is very clear about the fate of the wicked however and they do not inherit life.

Scripture teaches that certain things will happen to the wicked that contradict the popular belief that the wicked will exist for all eternity in Hell. Some are listed below in red, with my comments in black:

    • God spared man the fate of living forever (as a sinner) just after Adam and Eve sinned. I never hear anyone preach this, but it is clearly there for anyone to see. Genesis 3:22-24
And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
    • Hell is cast into the Lake of Fire thus proving that Hell is not eternal. The Lake of Fire is the second death, It is also the same fire that destroys the current Heavens and Earth. See Revelation 20:14-15
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
      &
      2 Peter 3:7
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
    • The wicked will be destroyed. There are multiple scripture claiming this. Destruction in scripture is used of other things and it clearly means to be destroyed, such as 1 Corinthians 5:5
To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Now read how the wicked will also be destroyed in Matthew 7:13
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
    • The wicked will perish, there are multiple scriptures claiming this including John 3:16 as we have already read. The word perish is also used of other things that will be no more, such as the current Earth and heavens. See Hebrews 1:10-12
He also says, “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
Now read about the wicked perishing in 2 Peter 2:12. It says that they will perish like animals. Do animals go to Hell to suffer forever?
But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

Eternal judgement simply means a judgement that is eternal. Yes Hell is real, but it is not eternal. Neither are the wicked, and this current heavens and earth. See 2 Peter 3:11-13:
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

    I’m with you on these…….!!!!
I just wish I could convince others of this truth without them thinking I’m in some sort of cult. After all, it’s not me saying it, it’s straight from the Bible…..

Cheers Paul. It amazes me too that many scriptures are not believed. It just proves that tradition nullifies the power of God because it is often in opposition to truth.

There are many more truths in the bible that many are unwilling to follow. Some are simply not done because of ignorance and others because they are too difficult and require too much faith. We have accepted Christ as he wished to be accepted; as the Son of God. But have we believed when he said “woe unto you that are rich! For ye have received your consolation.”? (Many of us do not consider ourselves rich, but have every luxury at our fingertips. The middle class now live better than most kings did in the past.) and then “If any man would come after me, let him DENY himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” “If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.” “He that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” or “I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.” or “No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” It is good we have seen through Satan’s deception of the trinity… but I pray that we will not stop there thinking we have now found all we need. Let us show the truthfulness of our faith and bear good fruit in all that we do and believe and do all the difficult things that are asked of us for the glory of Christ Jesus. Amen.

    Good post Anastas.

Regarding the rich, this is a subject I have thought about, but am somewhat unclear about. Most of the well off people in the western world are in debt and this is usually because of their mortgage. For most, if we want a house, we have to borrow the money and pay if off over the next twenty or thirty years. So in a monetary sense, a beggar with nothing but $5 in his hat has more net worth, but he doesn’t enjoy the luxury as much as the person with a house, car, and other things.

The other thing is that there are scriptures that seem to say that it is almost impossible to enter Heaven if you are rich. But then we read these scriptures:

    Matthew 27:57-60
57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus.
58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him.
59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

    1 Timothy 6:17-19
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

I did a writing on this subject about 10 years ago. I haven’t learned anything beyond that on this subject:

one of the words miss translated is the word “POOR”it seems that many translators like that word ,so sins the poor where usually more in number than the rich ones and that so religion relied more on the number for riches than the rich, but Christ was not talking about the poor or the miss fortunate from this world ,but more the ones that where kept poor in true Godly knowledge and so remain a slave from this world ,without having access to the freedom that is given through Christ ,by true faith ,

and it is this that Christ came to change and did change during the years past and future to free the men that look for the gold that comes from God ,

T8, I have a theory on the whole dept and wealth thing. Your right, the guy with 5$ has a greater net worth than the guy with a 200K mortgage.

Heres the difference, The guy with the mortgage has been imprisoned by his dept and apparent comforts of life. Turned up to work on time, puts in a hard days work just to reach retirement at 65 in time for death or an unhealthy retirement due to the stress of maintaining that mortgage. All the while being kept away from what is really important in life, God.

Dept is the tool of the illuminate and it works well, imprisoning us all, except the guy with 5$ to his name.

Tradition tells us, get an education, get married, have kids, get a mortgage, new car, big screen plasma TV and keep up with the Jones. Do we really need a 4 bedroom home, double lock up garage with remote doors and a swimming pool in the right suburb or would a simply cottage designed with self sustainability a better choice?

I know, sounds very negative. The point I making is I believe the powers to be control us via the mortgage. They can make society greedy with apparent affluence by lowering interest and make money easy to get, or increase interest and make life very difficult for those in dept.

Once this method of manipulation has been realised, we can choose to change it and make a positive and focus on what is more important…. Its that old problem of tradition that locks us in.

Of course I have no proof of the mortgage thing, just my thoughts…..

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” – Luke 12:32-34

Indeed, being rich in the spirit and in the faith and to find your way to Christ is the ultimate goal, but it would be unwise to discredit scripture like this one by saying it is not endorsing being poor in a monetary sense. Riches and worldly pleasures are able to bog a man down spiritually. Is being rich bad? The answer is no, if the man is spiritually strong and faithful and is not controlled by his wealth.

The issue arrives, however, when we know the evil tendencies of man. Christ taught us to give up our wealth and not to seek gold in this world so that we may live an easier spiritual life. Money and riches are not evil… WE ARE, and then misuse it and put our faith in it whether we admit it or not. Often we will say money means nothing to us, until that money is stolen or lost somehow. Then our true colours come forth and anger and stress overtakes us. Is this an appropriate action for those who do not put their hearts on money? I think not.

Again money is not evil. Being rich is not evil. But man is easily corrupted and that is why the Lord told us to give away our possessions… so we can avoid the possible distractions wealth brings so we may keep our trust in him. Remember what is written, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s shall save it.”

We must ask ourselves, “Are we great men in the faith or weak men? Are we spiritually alive enough to not be corrupted by wealth or aren’t we? Should we take the chance?

    Thanks for your post Anastas.

I agree but I also think there has to be balance in all this because it is written in 1 Timothy 5:8:
But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

When I was single I cared not for the things of this world. I wasn’t interested in getting into debt to get a house, unless I was able to pay a lion share of the mortgage up front (perhaps). But now that I have a family, I do care that I have a nice warm home and food in the cupboards, etc.

So when I was single I was more able to drop everything and go to where God wanted me. But now I have a family things have changed a lot.

I guess Paul touched on this when he said”I wish that all of you were as I am”.

What are your thoughts on this?

The kind of borrowing we have today was outlawed in the Old Testament. I heard this somewhere, but haven’t checked it out. It’s tough. You want a house, you need to get into debt and become a slave. When I was single I cared not getting into debt to have a house, but as a married man with a family, my priorities are different.

If we don’t have a mortgage, then we pay rent. Both are debts. Except the mortgage starts off more expensive but gets cheaper over time. If I wasn’t paying a mortgage, then I would be paying rent. Is there a real difference here? Thoughts?

I like how you introduced Paul’s point of remaining single if not yet wed, if able, so that we should not be pulled in two directions. (serving God and serving the worldly needs of your family)
The balance is the difficult part. If we give all our things away then how can we feed our families? One could say that that is just a lack of faith, but it is the Lord who says not to test God. Perhaps, its our lifestyle that is the problem. I think (correct me if I’m wrong) that you (T8) are somewhat against the formal “church” institutions of the world, but I think this is one of the roles those churches were originally supposed to perform. Did our Lord have no possessions? I would say yes he did not. Individually they had nothing, but they did have money in common for Judas was the treasurer of that money. (John 13:29) Then you look at acts 2:44-45 which says “and all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” A local church was to own everything of all the brothers and sisters and then give back to fulfill their needs. In this way the institution may become corrupt and rich but most of the brothers may remain clean from the filth that can occur from riches and still provide for their families.
Our problem in our capitalist society is that we have become very individual. We like our freedoms to do as we will and our culture has made us want to be very independent and autonomous. Our problem is not balance. Our problem is that the institution to allow us to be responsible and still give up our wealth does not exist for us today. I have great respect for hutterites and communal mennonites in this regard because they put this lifestyle into practice.

PS I would like to add that I was, not long ago, very right winged in my political views… very capitalist orientated. I have only recently realized that capitalism is an extremely worldly and self serving/greed oriented system that I doubt strongly that Christ would align himself to.

    Thanks Anastas.

Yes I suppose the capitalist system does suit the greedy that is for sure. I guess the best way to view it is that it rewards hard work, but it also rewards those who love money.

We need that balance where we love God more than all others and things, then we give priority to family, and others after that.

So avoid debt when we can. And pay it off if we have it. Being free and also owning or renting a home is not easy for many people.

HI I have just come to realise you are right about the Holy Trinity deception.I have worked and my family still do in a born again church.I have total faith in Jesus and fully believe he is the Son of God.The internet, in deeper study reveals that the trinity is a very big deception.I also wonder about communion.Seems to that is not right according to the internet.I have left my church without causing waves.I told my own family and have got myself into some serious problems.Divided two against one and I have been told by my family they think I am loosing it.We have to go back to basics and start again.I am finding this hard and wonder if you can direct me to someone who can help.I after all have to change my whole belief system. Thanks Kevin

My brother you are far from alone in your struggles. Those who find the truth and turn against the belief of the world will also find trouble, it is inevitable, because the world hates the truth. Persevere. Just as Christ foretold

“Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law: and a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.” – Matt. 10:34-36

My brother you are not losing it… your taking your first steps in finding it and the Spirit has lead you to that step. I pray you keep walking and may the light you shine in Christ enter into the hearts of your family that they may also see as you do. The truth is a difficult path but it is your cross to bear. If there is anything you need help with do not hesitate to ask.
    Your brother in Christ,

You are not alone Tigerseye, and good on you Anastas for encouraging your brothers. All those who love God, love his son, and consequently love truth. But the prince of this world is the Father of Lies. It stands to reason that in his world, we will be persecuted for seeking the truth and adhering to it.

Thank you T8. Our Lord taught us to do to others as we would like done to us and we are all in this together and all need encouragement from time to time (I, perhaps, more than others). We are stronger as a whole than we are as parts.
