We know that there is one God the Father. He is the true God.
But we also acknowledge that theos/elohim are used to describe others including idols, men, angels, Satan, and Jesus. Believe it or not, even an earthquake is described as elohim. This is reality. You can read these other theos/elohim examples in scripture for yourself. @GeneBalthrop, they are not all false theos. Even Satan is not a false theos of this age. He really is the theos of this world. This is why we have been instructed to not to love the things of this world. @mikeboll64 and @NickHassan there is one Theos the Father, we all agree on this I hope, and there are others who are described as theos, I hope we all acknowledge that. The Bible doesn’t teach a big God and little gods, but one true God and other who are like God in nature or authority.
Is there not one who is the Devil. The Devil is Satan. He is spoken of in scripture. Yet are there not ALSO devils. Understand that there is not a contradiction in Greek here. We do not have to believe that there is a triune or multiple Devil because others are called devil, nor do we have to ignore that there are devils. Why is it that we understand the truth with the Devil and devils and struggle with God. We know that devils are not a species but describe those who are like the Devil, even a man can be called a devil, we see that with Judas. If you clearly understand the difference with THE Devil and devils, then why is there even a disagreement with The Theos and theos? Why is the Devil understood more than God?
We should take the whole counsel of scripture. Where others besides the Father are called theos or elohim, then understand the meaning. Remember this is scripture. Do not change it to your own truth. When you take on board the whole counsel of scripture, then there is no need to argue endlessly over this and cause unnecessary division which is not the fruit of the spirit.
We are all getting older and it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. Let’s get things sorted.
T8……..The difference is the word God does not describe a person, it describes a relationship to something. I have posted before what the original Hebrew word for God meant. It was a pictoral drawing of a ox head, with a staff leaning toward it, this ox head was their symbol for strength or power, the staff represent the support they trusted in and leaned on. None of that has to do with the person himself, but the relationship or the atachment to it. Therefore it says the LORD, our GOD, the LORD YEHWEH IS THE PERSON AND THE RELIGIONSHIP IS, HE IS OUR God , why because he is the one we trust in and lean on for our power and deleverance. Therefore TO US he is the ONLY TRUE GOD, WE ACCEPT OR ACKNOWLEDGE NO OTHER God’s of any kind. WE like say to him though art the ONLY TRUE GOD, meaning all other God’s are false God’s , to us that is as far as our relationship goes there are no other God’s, big or little.
Peace and love to you and yours T8…………………………gene
Now that is the point GOD IS NOT A PERSON OR THING IT IS A WORD DESCRIBING A RELIGION SHIP TO SOMEONE OR THING.
