Where is it written that hands are laid on JUST to impart gifts?

Does it not say to receive THE SPIRIT?

If Philip believed that they would receive the Spirit AUTOMATICALLY after baptism then the follow up for laying on of hands would not have been arranged.

Acts 8 is pretty clear teaching that the Spirit is not given AUTOMATICALLY at baptism.

Did Philip baptise and yet none received the Spirit?

Did other apostles come to lay hands on them?

Reliance on understanding rather than obedience is unwise.

Some in Acts had to wait after baptism by Philip for other apostles to come and lay hands on them.

The receiving of the Spirit can bring gifts that make the servant able to serve.

But the Spirit should not be presumed to have been received.
