The sign of Jonah was the bringing back of a man from the dead.

Jonah died and went to the place of the dead but was brought back to life.

His resurrection into his old body was to fulfill the sign of Jonah.

But when he was lifted up from the earth he was changed.

Reclothed in a spiritual body so we can follow.

The new must be put over the old.

They are not the same.

Neither is Jesus still in the damaged body he was laid in.

The spiritual body is a new body.

Not a rehabilitated old one.

Only those already born of the Spirit will inherit the new spiritual body.

The rest will be naked.

A natural body can contain the Holy Spirit as Rom 8 tells us.

The heavenly body is not a quickened natural body.

The saving of flesh is in the consummate mercy of God.

But is does not give eternal salvation.

You must be born again

The Spirit Himself  bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God

Flesh means flesh.

God spared the lives of some from His mercy.

Yes the Spirit will give eternal life to those who yet live when the Lord returns

His speech is spiritual as it was when Jesus, speaking of eternal life,  said “some standing here will never die”

This speaks about men being saved from death.

Eternal salvation is another issue entirely

And God confirmed his Sonship in Mk1.11 and Mt 17.5

God was never far from His beloved Son.
