    Hi wakeup et al,
I understand the Son as the eternal offspring PART of the one true God, the Father. As offsprings naturally are, He is the same type of being as the Father which makes two persons who have the same attributes and same eternalness of the highest sort. When God appears as one person, the Son is right there as a part of His whole being. Nothing can separate them.

For me, this understanding has explained many of those apparent contradictions that you wrote down. This explains the ‘us’ mentioned in the ‘Let US make man in our own image.’ We are told that:

1 Cor 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Those two persons listed in that verse make up the ‘us’ who made man in their image.
    God bless!

      Hi Lighten up.

      Unfortunately there was no Son of God When God said;
Let us create man in our image.
      So try again.

      Hi Princess.

Did not God say : Beside ME there is no GOD, and no SAVIOUR? (and no off spring business).
The question is still not answered. Who is us?

      wakeup.

      Wakeup,
He was the firstborn over all creation. That implies sonship. It was in that position that He created all things. So obviously the Son was there before man.

      Hi Lightenup.

Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

We know that the creator can not be a creature. To interpret the creator being a creature is wrong.
The man Jesus is the first born
from the dead. The first man resurrected in spirit form.

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre eminence.

Yes, for he is from everlasting with God.
Because He was the Word with God, and the
      Word that was God.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace. (God is one).
How can he ever be interpreted as a creature?

      wakeup.

      Hi Wakeup,
I never said He was a creature, in fact I believe He was not created but always existed as the offspring within the Father and then before creation, was brought forth from within the Father. I believe that ‘Let there be Light’ was the announcement of this most significant event. Realize this, that even man exists before they become a firstborn…usually nine months. Man at one point does not exist but I believe that the Son of God always did exist as the living offspring but not always was begotten/brought forth.
