Regarding the depravity of all men:
*Isa 64:6 For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.*Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.

@kerwin,
you said:We receive of God by faith that he the Promised One but it was put on him because he was chosen and God takes pleasure in him
His ‘sonship’ was not ‘put on Him.’ His position as the Messiah was put on him…He was always possessed by the Father as His very own son, but the plan of the Son becoming also the Messiah, was…[Read more]

@kerwin,
Jesus was already the Son of God and someday He was to be acknowledged so by man. Man’s acknowledgement does not make Him the Son of God.We sure do read the same words with a different perspective, kerwin!

@kerwin,
Jesus did not have an evil desire ever even when He asked for another way to redeem man while being deeply grieved and asking the Father for the ‘cup’ to be removed. He simply wanted to know if there were any other way to please the Father and redeem man. That is not evil, it is communication, negotiation. He always wanted the redemption…[Read more]Lightenup replied to the topic Does 1 Peter 2 imply that Jesus is God? in the forum Truth or Tradition 10 years, 1 month ago
Desires can be good or bad. Jesus was filled with good desires and was encouraged to give birth to those good desires which produced good fruit. He did not have bad desires which when encouraged, give birth to sin. Fulfilling God given good desires is possible and righteous as a human and is what Jesus did. He never had any bad desires.…[Read more]

@kerwin,
Perhaps this will explain it better than I can:For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted,…. By Satan, at his entrance on his public ministry, and a little before his death; which was done, not by stirring up sin in him, for he had none, nor by putting any into him, which could not be done, nor could Satan get any advantage…

Bottom line, although beings, human or otherwise, can and do try to persuade God or man to do something, God will never allow beings to persuade Him to act in a way that is less than perfect love because perfect love, grace and truth fill His heart and His mind so to speak. God has freedom to choose and change His mind but it will ALWAYS…[Read more]

To me it is strait forward Jesus was tempted by sin while the one true God cannot be therefore Jesus cannot be God.
Kerwin, from what you said, this is a real hangup for you because you don’t seem to understand this correctly, imo. There is a difference from being tempted to sin from an outside source and feeling tempted to sin…[Read more]

Here are some thoughts in response to your posts today:
you said:We as a kind were made subject to sin because our own sinned so it follows the we as a kind can only be freed by one of our own doing right.
Jesus is the second Adam, the first Adam was also sinless before eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
you also…[Read more]

Did you ever consider that is one of the reasons the person of Jesus had to become a man?

Well, my point is that He is speaking of another person and not of Himself in the third person. I understand that at times Jehovah or anyone can speak in third person and it is actually regarding themselves. Our belief system, if incorrect, will blind us to the correct understanding.Lightenup replied to the topic Does 1 Peter 2 imply that Jesus is God? in the forum Truth or Tradition 10 years, 1 month ago
Great, I appreciate your willingness to consider another view. It is refreshing.

Did you see in the Isaiah 8 passage that Jehovah is speaking of Jehovah of hosts as if He is someone else other than Himself? The other person that Jehovah calls Jehovah of hosts is the stone of offense, not faith. Peter ties that stone to be Jesus, not faith. In both passages, the subject is a person that is the stone, not faith.Lightenup replied to the topic Does 1 Peter 2 imply that Jesus is God? in the forum Truth or Tradition 10 years, 1 month ago
Great, give it consideration. This understanding is common among Christians throughout Christendom.
