SimplyForgiven,I am corrious how you interpret Hebrews 4:15 which explicitly states Jesus was fully tempted even as we are as when Satan tempts me then I, unlike a tree, am tempted.I believe the issue is irrelevant to my discussion on telling the difference between sin and temptation as I was merely using the temptation of Jesus to illustrate what…[Read more]

I am adding to what I have previously wrote as well as to what I wrote to Irene.God led me to read this scripture this morning and I find it boosts my faith that I can overcome the forces of temptation Satan brings against me even when they seem unbearable. I hope it helps you as well.1 Corinthians 19:13(NIV) reads:Quote No temptation has seized…[Read more]

Adam,I took a look at chapter fifty two which happens to speak of the Messianic Age. Why I conclude this is that verse 1 of that chapter states “The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again” which certainly sounds like the Messianic Age. In verse 13 it begins speaking about the Suffering Servant. It certainly looks like this verse is…[Read more]

Irene,There is a diffrerence between being tempted to hate your brother in your heart and actually hating him. If you have hateful thought and do battle against those thoughts so that they are banished for a time then it is merely temptation. This is an exmple of what God means when he commands us to touch no unclean thing. On the other ha…[Read more]

Quote (heaven @ May 27 2010,16:58)Hi Kerwin. Thanks for getting the ball rolling. You are welcome. I felt that there should be more threads in this forum than that the one that critiques Nick's manner of posting.
Irene deserves some credit as her PM to me most likely aided me to come up with the idea.kerwin replied to the topic Kerwin in the forum The Hot Seat 16 years, 5 months ago
I wish to clarify a couple of my believes. It is tricky to differentiat temptation from actual sin when both are on the mental level, i.e. our thoughts. I look to the temptations of Jesus as an example of what temptation is. In those examples you see that Satan make a proposition and that Jesus then rejects that proposition. We know that Je…[Read more]

Quote (JustAskin @ May 22 2010,13:17)Kerwin,Does Scriptures not state that God said that He Pharoah to become great in power to show that He, God, can raise up – and bring down – the Mighty ( Mighty =' god')I assume you are agreeing with me. Is that correct?

Adam,Job 33:23, the same book you referenced, mentions an angel speaking up for a man and telling him what is right and just for him to do.I also believe that it was an angel and not God that Mosses spoke to in the burning bush. Adam,You seem to be assuming that those who call themselves Jews in modern time have the same beliefs as those who called themselves Jews in the first Century. This appears unlikely. Even that wikipedia article I linked to apears to speak of a difference between the two groups of Jews. I linked to that Jewish source about mysticism to show t…[Read more]

I can understand as I have been there myself but it caused my a lot of difficulties. I have learned to control myself to some extent and let others carry the conversation. We are instructed to listen long and speak slowly as well as to be slow to anger. I find those commands hard to obey but allso to be beneficial.I am not sure that angels do…[Read more]

SimplyForgiven,Look at John 10 is a good idea. I believe that you realize that anyone that acts according to the Holy Spirit is doing the works of God because God is working through them. That though does not make them God but merely an instrument that God is using to do his good works. Never the less they are one with God because they are do…[Read more]

Adam,Fairly good though I do believe elsewhere scripture declares that angels are mediators between man and God and that God did have a form on mount Sainai. In the later case the form was probably an angel which are often reffered to as God but the earlier case is a mystery that bears looking into.

Adam,You have to understand the point of view of a particular type of Jewish mystic that seem to have been more previlent when the books of Matthew and Hebrew were written that it is now. These Jewish mystic were not advocating polytheism but rather were teaching the mysteries of God as they were revealed to them. They seem prone to state that a…[Read more]

Adam,You did not think you were accusing God but Satan is tricky and we are too easilly fooled. If you state that certain behavior is irrational and God performs that behavior then you are accusing God of being irrational. You did state that changing between subject is irration and God does that quite often in prophecy. He even does it with tr…[Read more]
