Ed,
I am well aware of pulling words out of context but you refusal to defend your words instead of using the time as a teaching moment sound like arrogance.
The martyr or victim complex is old.
I assure you that judging your words is not judging you. You have the choice to change your ways may no longer agree with with what you wrote then.…[Read more]

Mike,
Techically Jesus did have a flesh nature or he would not have been tented by evil even as we are. Instead of doing his will, and so giving into that nature, he did the will of his Father and our Father by living according to the Spirit.
God has not sinful nature as he cannot be tempted by evil.
Still we would be wise to give Ed a change…[Read more]

T8,
These are the facts Nick, yet you would have me deny he was the Christ until John’s baptism of repentance.
Actually they are your interpretation of the facts.
I think that his words that you cannot understand prophecy refer to the evidence that Jesus is the one foretold to be the Christ, the King of Israel.
In calling him the Christ the a…[Read more]

Ed,
Are you sure you did not make an error and write something you did not intend?
If you are sure you intended what you wrote then please explain what you actually meant.
After all it is offered up to you as:
1) a learning moment
2) a teaching moment.kerwin replied to the topic Matthew 13:47-50 in the forum Scriptural Teachings 10 years ago

It is a good looking landscape shot but it is buried under all these post. Why don’t post it in this thread again?

t8,
Here’s the thing Nick. I believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. He was born the Christ and the King of the Jews.
That disagrees with the words:
Philippians 2:8-11Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore G…

1 Samuel 15:17Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?
The reason Jesus is called the Christ is that he is the promised king of Israel.
Psalm 23:5Authorized (King James) Version…

Ed,
“Where is he that is born King of the Jews?
for we have seen his star in the east,
and are come to worship him.” (Matt 2:2)Are they they not speaking of prophecy?
Scripture does not contradict Scripture so these words of the magi do not contradict Paul’s words in Philippians 2.
Jesus was made Lord and Christ after he laid down his lif…[Read more]

Ed,
He was not king yet.
According to Paul in Philippians 2 it was only after he gave up his life for others he became king.
On the other hand he was the one foretold to be king

t8,
What do you mean by saying that Jesus was born the Christ. The Shepherds out in the fields were Jews. As Jews, they were taught the Anointed One, the decedent of David, was foretold to come. The angel came to them and said the one that is foretold to be the Christ is to come. Because they were Jews that learned from the womb that there…[Read more]

Sometimes I respond before I have read your words in another post or even all the words in the same post so I may try to explain you already understand. I mention this because the last post I answered of yours revealed understanding I did not see in the previous post I answered.

A bit confused. Yes the Believer is one with God because his spirit is one with God’s Spirit. We are connected by our spirits. I suppose this is what you are tying to say. If so, then I agree.
That is a more detailed statement than I am completely confident with. I think it is the goal that the human spirits will become unified in order t…[Read more]

Are this discussion fruitful?
Should we as students of Christ on to our anger or should we let it go?
How do we let it go when those we care about hold on to those thing we find false?

Yes. But we are not the Holy Spirit, yet somehow the Father and the Son are? I disagree with LU’s and your view on this.
The human that walks according to the Spirit of God has the Spiritual nature of God. That is to say the nature of the Spirit is their nature. Thus in the Spiritual sense that believer is the Spirit.

Blaspheme against the Spirit is calling the works of God the power of demons/ Satan.
I believe that passage is covering more than one teaching and not all of them are directed at the his accusers.

It is only possible for those that have followed the true gospel of Christ to receive the Spirit in order that they can blaspheme against it. The vast majority of Muslims have never heard the true gospel of Christ. Mohamed’s teachings are heresy.
