Nick,Laying on hands served to bestow authority and in at least in one instance served to bestow the gifts of the Spirit. Numbers 27:1. 5-23, Deuteronomy 34:9, Numbers 11:16-25, Acts 18:14-17. There is also laying hands on the sacrifice but I do not see the relevance to the new covenant. Last there is laying on hands used for healing.
