Calling the logos the Son of God has been done for over 2000 years though Trinitarians took a new route and claimed the logos was Jesus before Jesus was conceived in his mother’s womb. The punctuation is that version is poor as it make God seem to be the subject and not the Son.

My point is that it does not say Jesus so you are assuming it means Jesus. It is not a safe assumption as Jesus is only thing that has a relationship to God like a Heir to his father.
