    Terrarica,

I read Hebrews 11-12 that you also quoted and find it has more than one idea in it. I mentioned those that were pertinent to the conversation. If I missed one then please let me know what it is.

    Terrarica,

you tell me that both baptism are done at the same time but i showed you in scriptures that this is false and you keep repeating it is so ,and yet refuse to accept the scriptures ,so why are we discussing ;?

I assume you mean John the Baptist’s words but those words do not make your point. The only point they make is that the…[Read more]

I am sorry if I am not answering all your questions. If I miss any then feel free to repeat them. If you would please number them then it may aid me in spotting them or focus my mind on answering them.

The writer of the book of Hebrews mentions that multiple baptisms are part of the essentials of the faith in Hebrews 6:2. Paul’s…[Read more]

    Terrarica,

You asked me if a person had faith in Jesus and who did not follow his teachings would be saved and I pointed to what James said about that issue.

You also asked me if a person would be saved who followed a step (baptism in Jesus’ name) in the teachings of Jesus but did not have faith and I pointed out what Hebrews said about that…[Read more]

    Terrarica,

Also tell me can you lose your life according to the scriptures for not being baptised but believed whole heartily in God and Jesus ?

James teaches us faith without works is dead. (James 2:26 and James 2:17)

Now can you lose your life according to the scriptures for not believing but being baptised in Jesus name ?

    Hebrews…[Read more]

It is not my argument, though I paraphrased it, it is Paul’s and it is not after it is the water just as Jesus rose alive from the grave and was not resurrected after he arose.

    t8,

The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

When did Jesus say this to his student-adherents?

Were the disciples taking part of the new covenant at that time?

Had the Advocate come to teach them yet?

  • Profile picture of kerwin

    Terrarica,

A disciple must believe before they can be baptized in Jesus’ name. It is that faith that leads them to get immersed in water for the forgiveness of their sins and to receive the promise of the Holy Spirit.

    Terrarica,

so they where all baptized again in water but this time in the name of Jesus ;is this what you are telling me ? yes or no

    Yes.

but none of them received the holy spirit after that baptism that you claim only after Paul lay his hands on them ,why is that ?

It tells us “they spoke in tongues and prophesied” which a both gifts of…[Read more]

Cornelius was a God fearing man before he became a student-adherent of Christ as were Peter, Nathanael, and many more.

Apollos is an example of a God fearing man, though he is a Jew.

    It is also written:

Acts 15New English Translation (NET Bible)
    The Jerusalem Council

15 Now some men came down from Judea and began to teach the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

So in case you doubt that is immersed believers, aka brothers.

    Terrarica,

Actually it does as it is addressed “To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: “.

    Terrarica,

You are missing the point and that is both Philip and Peter taught baptism in water as part of the gospel. Hebrews 6:1-2 states that baptisms are an elementary teaching of the gospel.

  • Profile picture of kerwin

    Terrarica,

I am not convinced that simply receiving the Holy Spirit is what is called being immersed in the Spirit, unless you are speaking in the same way Jesus was immersed at the Jordon.

Nerveless, Hebrews 6:1-2 speaks of baptisms.

    terrarica,

The requirements the church of Jerusalem wrote to the other churches were for those that were already immersed in water. In it is thing those that walk according to the Spirit do not do. Even in that case is a guideline as Paul teaches of other works of the flesh in his letters.

Being immersed in water is the means by which the…[Read more]

Peter spoke about the Gentiles and said “No one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized” and yet you propose just that. Why do you think doing so is wise?

  • Profile picture of kerwin

    Terrarica,

You quote Scripture like it disagrees with Scripture when you should know otherwise.

The Eunuch was taught by that he must be baptized in water and so when he saw an opportunity he asked Philip what was stopping him from taking that step. Philip taught immersion in water because it was a step to obtaining the Spirit. Peter does not…[Read more]
