Quote (david @ Mar. 27 2008,21:04)The two letters to Timothy have been accepted from the earliest times as written by Paul and as being part of the inspired Scriptures. The early Christian writers, including Polycarp, Ignatius, and Clement of Rome, all agree on this, and the letters are included in the catalogs of the first few centuries as…[Read more]

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 27 2008,20:38)Hi KJ, But you despise Paul. Why fuss about such detail if so?Who said I despise Paul? Just your assumption. Paul is long dead, how can I despise dead man? Paul was enamored with starting a new religion and he succeeded. Hooray for him.

No, but it is telling of when a book was recognized as being worth mentioning. All of Paul's authentic works were mentioned well before 1&2 Timothy. Plus, the style was different from Paul's authentic works.

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 27 2008,20:01)Hi KJ, You mean this Marcion? WikipediaMarcionism is the dualist belief system that originates in the teachings of Marcion of Sinope at Rome around the year 144. Marcion affirmed Jesus Christ as the savior sent by God and Paul as his chief apostle, but he rejected the Hebrew Bible and Yahweh. Marcionists…[Read more]

Wow, just because someone posing as Paul stated this, it must be true! In any case, does the verse say that all scripture is 100% true and infallible? No, it says it is inspired and profitable. From http://earlychristianwritings.com/2timothy.html2 Timothy is one of the three epistles known collectively as the pastorals (1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and…[Read more]

And BTW, Mrs., you should know after all this time that this site, and 99% of Internet forums, basically survive on the different ideas of the members. That is, their purpose is for debate. If you want fellowship and for people to sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya, it is better to do so in person with friends and loved ones. I would never…[Read more]

Why? I think attitudes such as this just show that you have something to fear from an atheist — or someone like me who feels the Abrahamic view of God is flawed. If your faith is strong, then you should have nothing to fear from an atheist or someone who sees God differently. Your faith, and the spirit of God you say you have, should be able to…[Read more]

Fear? No, why, should I? Do you view God as someone who flaunts His destructive power so you will cower to Him? What kind of God do you know Nick? The disconnect is still there. Pointing out the various flaws of the bible only shows how very human its writers were. A perfect loving God could never be held responsible for such a flawed work.

Perhaps then, Jesus was not sent to redeem man, but to redeem the biblical God. He was the one who goofed according to the bible.
