Nick,As usual you are saying God = bible. The bible is the record of a certain people and the retelling of many of their legends. That includes the NT as the authors of the gospels wrote 40-70 years after Jesus. So they were just telling the legend of Jesus. Often, legends are embellished as you know.As to the OT, when archeology shows much of the…[Read more]

A personal reviewer on that page says (it can be found in the book too)There is good reason to believe that the Exodus never happened. Had migrants to the number of even a small fraction of the 600,000 claimed in the Bible truly sojourned in the Sinai Peninsula for 40 years, archaeological evidence of their passage would be abundant. In fact,…[Read more]

No more than I cannot prove Harry Potter is real if someone believes in it. If lack of evidence beyond something in a book can equal reality we are free to believe in anything as long as someone is willing to write about it.If you are open-minded, pick this book up: The Bible Unearthed: Archaeology's New Vision of Ancient Israel and the Origin of…[Read more]

With each archeological find, it beceomes apparent that certain stories in the OT are incorrect. Not wrong necessarily in all parts, but likely highly embellished. For instance, there is no singular bit of…[Read more]

Cato, That matches something I read by a blogger recently. I liked it. Here it is from http://ironwolf.dangerousgames.com/blog/archives/483. Ironwolf said:Or, here’s a scary thought: what if the return of Jesus is really a symbolic, spiritual concept, and the “soon” God is speaking of is the end of your mortal life, and the time of your testi…[Read more]

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Mar. 28 2008,03:09)Hi Stu, You divert. At this stage KJ believes Jesus existed. He is inconvinced of the fact that he is the Jewish messiah.I'll agree with that . In what way he existed is not clear, and what words he actually said cannot be verified, but yes I believe in a historical Jesus.

Here are my assumptions based on the A&E story:(1) God said all he created was good, and overall very good. That included then the serpent, so A&E had no reason to suspect that the serpent was “evil” or “bad”.(2) Since A&E did not know “evil” only “good”, they had no concept of wrong and right. While they were told not to do something, without a…[Read more]

Am I seeking righteousness? That is an Abrahamic goal, one that says “look at me”. I am just trying to bring people back to reality so that they can contribute to the world they live in, not just wait on some world they might get to live in.
