Also had another couple who let their 11 year old die from complications of diabetes while they prayed over her. She had not been to a doctor since the age of 3. She certainly was not getting insulin shots. They feel she died because they did not have enough faith. The mother still believes there is a chance her daughter will be resurrected.

Just had a recent case of a couple who allowed their 15 month old child die because they did not get treatment for pneumonia. They thought prayer was enough. I wonder how much prayer will get their child back and keep them from going to prison? They have only been charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminal mistreatment though.I do not…[Read more]

I blame that Satan character. He probably took a few down to hell for protection until the flood was over. Sneaky devil!

Nick, you state elsewhereQuote Scripture does offend holders of dogmas.I almost fell out of my chair laughing. You DO realize that you are perhaps the most dogmatic person on this board, don't you? Dogma: An authoritative principle, belief, or statement of ideas or opinion, especially one considered to be absolutely true.

When Jesus said to ask for things in his name, I think people confused the issue and started tacking “In Jesus' name” to the end of their prayers. Notice that when Jesus gave the model prayer in Mat 6, he did not tack his name on to it — he ended it with “Amen”.In any case, I would not think it would be idolatry to say “In Jesus name” if you…[Read more]

Some things to consider on plant life during and after the flood, from http://www.geocities.com/pgspears/fs.htmlThe Survival of Plant SpeciesMost plant communities would not be able to survive the conditions of the flood, for several reasons:1. The seeds would soak in salt water for a year.2. During this year, plant seeds would be subject to…[Read more]

BTW, biblical scholars date the flood at around 2300 BCE, 500 years after the germination of the world's oldest tree.

David,There may have very well been a common ancestral story of the flood. But each has its own variation although they may have some commonalities. That being the case, that begs this big question: with 270 in existence, it would seem that the biblical account — while having some small basis of truth — has 269 other versions vying for their own…[Read more]
