I embaressed to be a fool regardless. Paul was not telling us to be fools in any case. No, I'm just willing to accept that God is not knowable to the extent we can know other people, because the view of Him has even changed within the bible. That is the way of things: most religions are just mankind's view of God.

That's pretty funny Nick. Over 1000 pages about the nature of God, on whether He is triune or not, all from people who supposedly follwo the same God.

I'm not discouraged, not anymore. I was discouraged inside of diehard Christian faith more than I am now. Perhaps it is the result of the intolerant Christians I knew that were less caring than non-Christians, or perhaps something else. I just came to the realization that Christianity is just another view of God and that most Christians are…[Read more]

If I was in Athens, I would likely have ignored him. After all, people are a product of their culture and paganism abounded in Athens. You act as if people should make a spur of the moment decision and blindly follow that for the rest of their life.

Yes, and that is their right. But here we have a thread about “uncertainty” do we not? The answer to such uncertainty may not be to simply have faith because sometimes that is easier said than done. Uncertainty often requires answers and thus far people have not been forthcoming with concrete ones.

So it is the safest measure to continue to blindly believe words written thousands of years ago that don't hold up well under scrutiny?

Deu 29:29 “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Yet, what are the secret things? Did He not promise a coming king who would deliver His people as ever before? That is what they looked for and there is no clue in the OT…[Read more]

Why is it wiser, because you believe it is? Seriously, Mandy is struggling with what she reads in OT vs NT, and all of you offer encouragement but no real answers. That is what she needs, not a pat on the back and a call to turn away from the questions. Why is faith in what you believe any more beneficial than any other religious faith?

There are some major problems with your analogies Steve. The biggest one is that if we can take the bible for what it says, all of the above men had real encounters with God. Thus their faith came from actual events while the typical Christian must be forced to believe in something that was written about thousands of years ago. The miracles that…[Read more]

I don't get this because those who have a struggle with Stu tend to engage him rather than staying in the areas he cannot post. Its like choosing the smoking section of a restaurant as a non-smoker and then complaining about the smoke. No pun intended on the smoking analogy .

N3, Most of the OT verses that people say apply to Jesus do not. Psalm 69 is just one of many. Psalms are not prophetic, they are songs of praise and songs of triumph.
