Um… there's no editing on this forum? That's crazy!
I accidently hit tab then space and it submitted the post. I had just got started! I'll probably do it again.
Anyways… as I was saying…
As I was praying last night, I was meditating on the armor that we put on as Christians. I noticed something between the different parts of the armor.Category 1:
1. Helmet of salvation – guards the brain/mind; where rationalizing takes place. When we are saved, our whole self is protected, but there's a more intimate connection between these two.
2. Breastplate of righteousness – guards the heart; righteousness includes a relationship with God. When we are saved, we are made righteous. You know that verse that instructs us to guard our heart above all else, well, we guard it with righteousness, that is, we guard it by having a faith-based relationship with our Lord.
– These parts are there, fastened securely; they don't go away move, unless you take them off.Category 2:
3. Shield of faith – faith should be active, growing in the Lord to become an actively loving being, those are the deeds which come from a good seed.
4. Sword of the Spirit – ever notice that there is a fine, discrete connection between the “Spirit” and the breathed “Word” or God. Spirit and Word combine and become one, you get sword, which we use to fight with.
-These two are the active part of the armor – we actually USE them in our battles, they aren't just there to protect us, we actually have to engage to protect ourselves. However, the fighter can let go of these parts of the armor anytime he wishes. He can lose the grip on these parts also, and fail to keep him/herself armored with these traits.Category 3:
5. Belt of truth – the belt holds the clothes/armor in place; Truth being security, and a sense of firmness. To get rid of the Truth/belt, you would first have to let go of the sword/Spirit and the shield/faith to actually undo your belt. Losing Truth will have a less firmness in righteousness. Once evil can get to your heart, it will soon infiltrate into your mind.
6. Shoes of the gospel – we walk daily, and at the end of the day, our feet would hurt a lot more if we didn't wear shoes probably. the Gospel provides linkage to walk in the Light, a more comforting and encouraging journey I suppose. (just a guess)
-I'm not too sure what to say about these, however. It's probably because God hasn't taught me about the shoes yet, nor their significance, and He is currently teaching me about Truth and how Jesus is Truth. - AuthorPosts
