At 250 miles up the entire city of Pheonix (yep, we noticed the geography) is only about 4 to 6 football fields in size!
The city of Pheonix is over 518 square miles!!! Think about that!
Now the big question, “should we be able to see the ISS with our unaided eye? Please, no obfuscation.

I just went to YouTube and It Was There! Awesome!
My thoughts:
1) You kinda loose it at around 20 miles up!
2) At 50 miles you’re asking yourself, “where the heck am I”.
3) 250 miles up, you don’t have a prayer.
Now, will the ones that claim we deny evidence respond? I doubt it but I must remain hopeful.

WOW! You have to post that on YouTube if the music doesn’t cause any copyright issues!
Well done! The music always adds or subtracts to the video and I’m always aware of this being a musician. You nailed it on the head!!!!

T8: “Mike, I noticed that your new favourite word is “obfuscation”. But in reality we are not doing that. What we are really are people who believe the earth is a globe and that denying all the evidence is paranoia. Because this subject matters little to us, when you ask questions about airplanes visible at 230 miles or whatever it is, it mea…[Read more]

NASA doesn’t even know who took the pictures!
(From an article that looks into this in detail)
The major fact to be noticed is that at the time of the acclaimed photographing of Earth, the astronauts didn’t mention the Earth at all. Moreover, before and after that time they spoke on a totally different subject, they observed possible damage o…[Read more]

Mike, I’ve got rubber parts on my van that just flap in the wind and that is just from the relatively temperate conditions on earth! I can’t imagine small rubber o-rings that could last for decades in the extreme temperatures of “space”.
I don’t recall anyone addressing the issue of seeing the ISS or satellites yet. Wouldn’t this be an easy…[Read more]

T8, that’s a great comment. If we can combine the information that you just presented with what information Mike presented we can begin to see the solution.
As Gene correctly pointed out, the farther away objects are the smaller they appear to us. So if we know the size and distance of the ISS we can determine our ability to see it with the…[Read more]

Of course, which is why Mike said this: “Do you think we’d still be able to see it with the naked eye at 369 miles high?”
Now that the “specific thing” has already been defined what would be your best guess? Should you be able to see the ISS with your naked eye?

Gene: “Mike, as you asend or decend from objects appear to get smaller, with the maked eye, everyone knows that. So whats your point? What kind of a futile case your trying to make with that?”
Did you not really understand Mike’s point? Really?
It’s very simple. If you cannot see an airplane of the approximate size of the ISS from 100…[Read more]

T8: “Tell me Mike. How would you like to be a pillar in the temple of God? It requires people who can stand for long periods if time and holding up part of the temple. Weaklings need not apply.”
Why mock one of the highest pinnacles of spiritual aspirations? Especially when the text ends with; “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit s…[Read more]

T8: “You misunderstand. I am not accusing anyone of saying that. I am saying you need to believe that if you take it all literally. In other words, if you take the sword as literal as the pillars, then you have to hold that view right? Or do you have the luxury of cherry-picking to suit one’s doctrine. That is, the sword is metaphorical but the p…[Read more]

Otherwise how how could people fall for things like this?

T8, I guess you didn’t watch the video that LU posted, it was excellent! In it a noted Hebrew scholar, Dr. Michael Heiser gave the evidence that the ancient Hebrews did indeed believe in literal pillars and the hard firmament and that is indeed what the Bible teaches. His conclusion was that the Bible is simply wrong or not true about these things…[Read more]

On my journey on the history of this thread I have run across another classic posted from Mike.
As you watch this under 2 minute video remember that the highest mountain top should be hidden by over 1,100 feet of curvature! You may want to also keep in mind that this is a distance of 163 miles! Wow!

LU: “Do you not understand the difference between metaphors and non-metaphors? If God is speaking metaphorically then it is to be understood that way…it is a true metaphor. It would be false to understand something as literal when meant metaphorically, right?”

Perhaps Psalm 19 would be a good example of metaphor and non-metaphor:
19 The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
2 Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
4 Their line has gone out…[Read more]Dig4truth replied to the topic Mikeboll's belief in a flat world in the forum View Points 6 years, 4 months ago
LU: Do you not understand the difference between metaphors and non-metaphors?
Perhaps you you missed this post of mine from 6 pages ago. In it I discuss metaphors and non-metaphors. It begins when T8 asks me a question.
Maybe you would like to answer this question since you claim to understand metaphors. Are the pillars of the…[Read more]

This is a great 2:22 long video to illustrate your point Mike.
