miia..
You should look into the description of hell as is written in the Qur’an and then get back to us here if you agree with that description too.
as I understand, Bd was not quoting the Qur’an..

Well I’m with bodhitharta on this…the Scriptures do not teach annihilation – that concept is man-made..
..as I’ve pointed out before, the idea of annihilation would give hope to those in a place where there is no hope – really this teaching is just another example of man conforming God’s word to his own limited idea of what God should be…[Read more]

Well…let’s see, I ain’t much of a head-man but I’ll try and string these thoughts of yours together to get some understanding.. The Word was with THE God, but the Word was not THE God, and… He was not ‘a’ god, He was just ‘god’ – The Word was with God and the Word was ‘god’…this is your interpretation of John 1:1… according to your…[Read more]

Kerwin..
Which translators do you trust to translate as they are carried along by the Spirit of God?
I do not trust any of them.
Do you put your understanding of Biblical Greek up against those who were put in a position of interpreting Scripture..?!
Should I trust what you say over what the Bible says…?!
God’s Word is sure -…[Read more]

Annihilation is not what the Bible itself teaches when it uses words like perish, destroy, death, second death, hell etc…
What you teach here is again another belief based on human reasoning – that is, interpreting Scripture according to the intellect rather than by the Spirit… a teaching also found among cult groups who deny the…[Read more]

you are not paying attention. I have told you on multiple occasions on how it is worded. Please take note so you don’t have to accuse me again.
So whose not paying attention…I’m not asking for your understanding of this verse – I’m asking how you would word it…?!
You casually attack the credibility of Bible translators from the co…[Read more]

we teach as Jesus did that the only true God is his Father..
Nice try – you teach what the JW’s teach…and deny the true deity of Jesus Christ..
..you say John 1:1 has been worded wrongly by the Bible translators yet, for all your criticism, you cannot say how this verse should be worded.

Well Nick, what can I say – it’s the trinity in one verse…Father, Son, Holy Spirit..!
(no logic needed on my part)

Bodhitharta…
I can completely understand why you would imagine miracles a justification for calling Jesus God..
Sorry – I never said that, nor was I implying that…
If you had read my post through you would have seen that my point was this, although Jesus had power to do all these things, yet the one thing He could never do was change…[Read more]

If annihilation existed it would offer hope to those in hell – but tragically, hell is a place without hope.
People who commit suicide usually do so with the false belief that in taking their own life they will end the unbearable situation they are in – only to find that they take it with them into the afterlife…
They had a false hope -…[Read more]

The thought that comes to me is this…Jesus gave sight to those who were blind from birth; He healed incurable diseases, made the lame and crippled whole again, brought the dead back to life; liberated souls from the torment of demonic possession; exercised power over the elements and forces of nature; He defeated Death and all of man’s spiritual…[Read more]

P.S. Still waiting for anyone’s re-wording of John 1:1 – (that is, if you disagree with how it stands in every major Bible translation).
ie. do you think it should read, the Word was god, or a god…etc, etc..???
..and if Jesus, existing as the Word, was merely some god with God, but completely separate to God – please explain how this…[Read more]

…no JWs here so who are you talking to?
JW’s are example of how people are forced to redefine this verse in order to deny the plurality of God..
Trinity is not taught in John 1:1.
John 1:1 reveals the divinity of Jesus Christ with wording that perfectly describes the tri-unity, “with God..was God” – separate yet same.!…[Read more]
